Va Rally - Mid-Atlantic Rally - Interested??
At last weekends NE rally which was the first rally that we ever attended, Glenn made a very good suggestion that in actuality this is a MID-Atlantic rally!!. Listen up all Mid-Atlantic Montana owners. This rally is not limited to those from Virginia but actually is centrally located to the Mid-Atlantic states. If you have never attended a rally and want to try a short one, this rally is for you. Travel from MD, VA, WV, NC, TN, KY, SC and other Atlantic states provides for a short commute to experience the rally. We had a FANTASTIC time at the NE rally and want to extend an invitation TO ALL to consider attending this rally being organized by Salle (Vabluebird). The campground selected is Walnut Hills in Staunton, Va. which is just a couple of miles off of I-81. The Blue Ridge Mountains are available for day-tripping with Skyline Drive being less than an hour away. We (Bingo and Cathy) will be assisting Salle and we want to promote and provoke your interest. With the high prices of diesel, this rally provides an attractive alternative for Montana Owners to have a short commute from the Mid-Atlantic region. It is the weekend after Labor Day. If you, like us, enjoy putting faces to some of the great posters on this forum, consider this an invitation to join us in Staunton. Come join us!!!!

Hey Bingo & Cathy,
Glad you had a good time at the rally. We're hoping to get there for the Mid-Atlantic Rally. As it's just a few hours up the road, and in prime VA wine country, we'll try our best.
A few other good places to visit are Michie's (pronounced MICKEY's) Tavern which has an authentic pub and interpretive tour. Our favorite vintner is at exit 148 off of I-64, Cooper's Vineyards, but there are at least 3 more in the immediate area and all do tastings. There is an apple orchard not far from Michie's, and the campground itself is nestled in the hills. In the fall it's absolutely georgeous! Misty Mountain is not named that for any arbitrary reason. Be careful driving through that area as it gets foggy!
Hope the planning is going well. If you guys need any help from a "local" give me a pm.

Here are some photos from the May 2005 Virginia rally also held at Walnut Hills.
As you will see the area given to the MOC at that time was one of the best with a beautiful view.

Thanks for the photos, Glenn. We had a great time...Didn't we. Are you & Lorraine coming to Walnut Hills this year? We will definitely be there along with my sister and her husband who bought a used 3295RK last fall. Hoping to convince them after this rally to travel to Indiana for the national fall rally. Looking forward to meeting everyone!!! See you in September!
?? What happened to the list of registered attendees and the other posts for this rally?

That is a good question Joyce!! I assume they have been archived??? Can one of the moderators or administrators help us out here and see if we can restore the previous posts and possibly make a sticky out of the attendees list!!

Oh Gosh! we would love to join you but we are in California at this time. Walnut Hills is a nice campground,it was the first place we camped years ago.
Mid Atlantic Rally sounds good to us.
Sorry we will miss you.

Hi Joyce, Yes we did have a great time. Walnut Hills is not just a great CG but the Staunton (pronounced STAN-ton) area is a great area for things to do. I am about 90% sure we will NOT be there but you just never know about the 10% still remaining. That's the nice part of being a full timer without any commitments but than again if your sister is anything like you I....
One thing I can commit to is the Fall Rally. YES, we will see you in September.
