fantastic vent dome
The clear plastic dome on my fantastic fan vent sticks, and will not open until it is forced open from the inside or gently pryed up from the top. After opening it will raise and lower ok, for about 24 hours, then sticks again. What causes it? Do I have some stray putty holding it down? Motor works just fine. (Montana 2004 2980RL)

I was having the same problem I used a rubber lube sold at NAPA, its about the texture of vasoline, and so far so good.

Ours sticks also, Fantastic Fan sent me some 303 packets to use on it, but that stuff does not last very long and the lid starts sticking again. I even had the dealer look at it when I had the unit in for service. They said they adjusted the lid, but again it is sticking. I think the rubber gasket is defective. They need to come up with a replacement gasket that will not stick to the lid. We should not have to climb up on the roof every few days/weeks or even months to lubricate a gasket that should not be sticking in the first place.

Like some others have said "call Fantastic Vent" at 800-655-2644. I spoke to Jim Wood. They will send you some packets of 303 Protectant. Apply it to the rubber seal and your problem will go away.
I applied it about 8 months ago with no further sticking.
The vent is not only Fantastic, so are the folks that work there. I also had a problem with the motor and they sent me a new one, No Questions Asked. Wish everyone was that easy to deal with.

3670 2004 - We also have a fantastic fan. Love it. But it sticks. My very slim husband clumbs easily to unstick it or manually from inside but I am not tall enough to get up to the cieling. Will try the stuff from NAPA. Glad to hear they are a good company.

I too am a fan of Fantastic. I've only had one problem with my two fans in almost three years but tech support came through for me also!
Having said that instead of trying to use a lubricant on the seal that will attract dirt and gum up, I think I'd try some Baby Powder. Course the real problem must be the material that they are using in the more recent production. Never heard of this problem in the older units.
Seems like GOOD is never GOOD ENOUGH! Gotta change it until it is NOT SO GOOD! You know .. "New and Improved" ... not!!

Ours has stuck from the get go. Yesterday I had to fiddle with it several times to get it to open. Thanks for the tips. Happy trails.
