New member fron OR, new question

Hello to all, we are DeWaine and Sharon, and live in a little suburb of Portland. We enjoy fishing, boating, and just about everything outdoors. Sharon loves to do crafts such as, embroidery and some quilting. I enjoy, fishing, some minor wood working, and playing on the computer. Any way we were just wondering if anybody has figured out how to add an off and on switch inside for the built in vacuum. It just doesn't make any sense to have the switch in the pass through. A real pain in the back side. Looking forward to enjoying our new monty and sooner or later meeting some of the nice people that I have been reading about in the forums. Sounds like we're in a good group. Thank you for any help you can give me about the switch issue.

Ours has a flip up “ dust pan “ lid under the cabinet that is the switch.
Same place you connect the hose.
It might help if you told what year and model.
Welcome to MOC!

as a new member i would suggest that when you write your future questions you use paragraphs, lots of them.

we are all old and can't remember what the questions is by the time we get through trying to read the long paragraphs.

enjoy the forum and come to the annual rally.

DeWaine & Sharon,

Welcome to the forum!

I believe you will find the switch in the garage is only for when you connect the hose down there. When inside it should come on when you connect the hose or open the kick plate.

Enjoy your new rig.

Welcome to the Forum. Hopefully the switch issue will be the only pain in the backside you experience with your new rig.

welcome to the forum! Ours works as others have stated, but many of us have dumped the hose and only use the vacuum kick plate for sweeping the floor. Many of us use a Shark for actually vacuuming. If you are near someone who has one, vacuum with the built in and then immediately vacuum with a Shark. You'll see why we do that.

built in vac

Sorry forgot to say what model we have: it's a 3790RD 2018

Thanks for the quick response. We think we're going to like being a part of this group. Any Portland area members that would like to meet give us note.

Just down the freeway South from you, you’re going to love your rig once you get the bugs worked out.

Paragraphs are great for all of the aforementioned reasons! Short sentences are really good to.

Hi DeWaine and Sharon. Terry and Patsy here, out on the west side, north of Hillsboro. We have a 3810, and there is an on/off switch in the pass through, however in the main area, either lifting the "sweep" lid, or plugging in the hose to the inlet will automatically activate the vacuum. Shut the lid, or pull the hose out, and it SHOULD shut off, unless the switch in the pass through was lief on. As others have also said, the hose is a pain in the butt, so we bought the Shark (a corded one) and use it most of the time. Use the hose for the basement, or major cleanups, such as on top of the slide outs when they are in.

Give us a holler/note if you ever want to meet. I get over to the east side occasionally. I belong to the local military vehicle club, and we meet at Camp Withycombe once a month. Likewise volunteer at the railroad museum down next to OMSI. Also do some farming out west here. Funny thing is, we're suposed to be retired!!!

OMG! I feel so stupid. I was plugging the vacuum in the pass thru storage & pulling the hose & vacuum up into our 3160RL. I didn't know the kick plate pulled up & there was a plug and/or hose connector. Gotta check this out. I've been using a corded Walmart vacuum. This is why I love this forum, I learn something new weekly.

Who is your dealer so the rest of us can stay away from them? Must have been a really great PDI by them.

I found that the metal ring on the vacuum hose turns the system on when the hose is plugged in. I had to show my wife that the sweep lid also turns the system on and off. She was not pushing the vacuum hose all the way in and couldn't understand why the system was not turning on. She also wondered why there was little suction going on. I checked the dust bag in the pass through and it was packed full. So a reminder, check your dust bags often.

Hopefully that wasn't too many paragraphs...

Don

WeBeFulltime: Dealer showed us where to plug vacuum in & dust bag in pass thru storage. He had so much information for us 1st timers, we never questioned how or where to plug the vacuum in inside.
