Hi, all! Pete and Cheryl Alford, here. We were fortunate enought to come across a 2005 297RKS on December 31st, and we pick it up tomorrow. The rig is rounded out with a 2005 Chevy 2500HD 8.1/Allison/4.10 and a PullRite 20.5K hitch. The Alfords hail from The Woodlands, TX (north Houston suburb). Cheryl is a research biologist and Pete is a Facilities administrator for the same company. Although we are in our thirties, we were insanely jealous of you lucky fulltimers! After some discussion, we decided to take the plunge and join you. We're hoping to enjoy decades of fulltiming fun! Luckily, there are several very nice RV parks north of Houston...and even better, a nice one 5 miles from work. Great site you have here. We look forward to learning from those of you who've been at the game for a while. Thanks!!

Howdy neighbors! Let me be the first to welcome you to this fine forum. We have been at it a bit longer than you. Our first camping trip was in October of 1962. Since then we have graduated from tent camping to wilderness backpacking, and now to a Montana fifth wheel. Our wish for you is that when you reach our stage of life, you will have as many happy memories as we do, and will still be making more of them. We will be leaving for a ski trip in Colorado in less than 2 weeks. My wife is from Magnolia, Texas -- better not get started on that long story. Welcome, and I enjoyed your pictures from Huntsville.

Hello, welcome to the MOC Forum. You are right up Hardy Toll Road from us. Our current base is in Clear Lake.

Dianna will retire from United Space Alliance in May or June. Some say I am already retired since I am self-employed. Glad to see you want to join the frey. It should be a lot of fun.

The Forum is a great place to harvest information and avoid some rookie mistakes. The site has been extraordinarily helpful to me. It answered questions I didn't even know to ask, uncovered problems hidden from casual observations, and helped me with "fixes" to issues that have arisen. Besides that, there are some just plain nice folks who post here.

Have a great adventure..

Welcome Pete and Cheryl to the MOC Family. Now I'm jealous, you two are starting to fulltime in your thirties while Lorraine and I waited till 60. This fulltiming is a great life, we know you will enjoy it.
Looking forward to hearing about all your RV adventures.

Congratulations and welcome aboard! We've been fulltiming for over 21 months. Originally I thought at about two years we'd either be bored or tired of the lifestyle. But now we're saying we need another five or six years to see this beautiful country. We are truly enjoying ourselves. Hopefully you'll find it just as pleasant.

If you haven't already seen it, take note that we plan our second international rally next October, near Reno, NV. The first rally was this past September in Indiana. We had 67 rigs there and had a great time meeting all these terrific people.

Hope you have many enjoyable years with your travels.

We just joined a few days ago ourselves and already have been welcomed by a lot of friendly folks, and in the General posting area have gotten a lot of useful information as well.

You came to a great place.

Many thanks for all the warm welcomes! We look forward to meeting our new RVing friends out on the road! Cheryl and I have discussed moving further west in the next couple of years. Reno is on our short list. Sounds like the rally would be a great opportunity to check out America's biggest little city.

We also joined recently and I think you see what a warm welcome you get here. Also there is a world of information in the general section on such things as the best battery system to use, how to get internet while on the road and lots of other good information.

Glenn, if Jeanne and I do go fulltiming for some period of time we will start in our late 60's. In fact we are already there and just buying our first one.
