We will be heading out soon to start our full time travel. I was wondering what type of water filter system and pressure regulator people have found to work best for full-timers?

Valterra high capacity 50-55PSI regulator and Culliver RVF-10 filter work well for us.

We use a high flow water pressure regulator, two house type filters and a water softener we got from the rvwaterfilterstore.com

We use a high flow adjustable pressure regulator, with two home water filters one before the water softener and one after. So far this is working very well for us. Water softener was the single best improvement when moving around the country and getting into areas with very hard water such as AZ

We are not fulltimers but are longtimers that dry camp for 5 months in Quartzsite. We use two water filters prior to putting water into the freshwater tank and a RO system for drinking water under the sink.
When at a RV park we also use a high flow adjustable pressure regulator.

High flow water regulator used here along with a whole house canister water filter and carry both the white and the charcoal filters with us. We also have the canister water softener prior to the water going into the unit lines or fresh water holding tank. We use regular water softener salt crystals to back flush the softener and do this about once a month unless we are in an area like AZ and we backflush the softener about every two to three weeks if needed like while we are in AZ where the water is extremely hard.

The main purpose in using a water pressure is to regulate incoming water supply from the source. Water pressure differs from campground to campground. The pex tubing in our rigs has a 55 psi max capacity (per the specification). Many campgrounds supply water pressure in excess of the capacity. If its too high, it can damage tubing but more likely cause leaks at connections.
Also, if you have a black tank flush, it has a back flow preventer. This is located in various places in the rig. In most it is in the bathroom cabinet under the sink. It is a back plastic device connected to two white pex tubes. It prevents water from the black tank flush backfeeding into the hose you are using for flushing the black tank. It doesn't take too much pressure over 65 PSI to cause the back flow preventer to fail. When this happens, it leaks...a lot. I speak from first hand experience.
So it is wise to regulate the water pressure for both the water system and black tank flush. BTW we also use a two tank filter system for incoming water as well as a 3 filter DI system for drinking water as the definition of potable water differs from place to place. Best Regards.

I just bought a water regulator from valterra which is preset at 45psi on Amazon. I use a Camco inline water filter from Walmart. I NEVER drink the water so it is not as important to me as it is with someone who does. I am thinking of buying a portable water softner that i can use on the rv and for washing cars as our water is very hard where i live. The assessories for these rv's are endless.

John ... where did you glean the info that the PEX tubing in our fivers is only rated to 55 psi? Most PEX tubing I'm familiar with is rated well over 100 psi depending on temperature.
