I had decals fading on my 06 2955rl front cap. I sharpens piece of plexi glass worked to shave of the damaged edges of the decals. Buffing the whole cap with a mild rubbing compound and waxed improved the appearance. Next I went over the decals with a small rag and lacquer thinner to clean the surface. From Home Depot I purchased their little sample cans with matching colors of the decal. With a small brush I painted over the decals as necessary. it's been a year and the still look good.
WOW! That looks great, how does it look up close? Where did you buy the remover?
Up close there is still some shadowing even after using Meguiars RV/Marine oxidizer remover, but you have to be standing beside it to see it. Under the decals is still a fresh fiberglass, but the oxidizer really did a great job.
The the remover was bought at Advance Auto parts when we did it, but they may have stopped carrying it. It is available by doing a Google search. The 3M adhesive remover that is basically the same it still available at Advance Auto parts. It is a black can with a small red label.
I just removed a couple of my 2002 decals and they came right off with a little heat. I used a blow dryer on low heat. They almost came off in one piece.
