Hitchball height
Does anyone know the proper hitch ball height for my TT?(see sig.) I think it is too low. The owners manual did not say anything. The dealer setup the hitch with the ball in the same position as my old TT but that one did not have a slideout and it sat lower. They told me i would have to let an extra link hanging to be level but with that I got a lot rearend of sway and it felt every tiny bump in the road. so I decreased the number of links by one on my distribution bars to make the toungeue heavier. That solved the sway problem but now my truck squats alot more. I think I need to adjust/ raise my hitchball. anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry, I probably should have posted this in the towing forum.

When we switched from the 315 to the 335 there was a certain amount of droop on the truck rear end. Our dealer made an adjustment to the angle of the hitch on the TV which solved the problem. I would suggest you "encourage" your dealer to take another look.
BTW the Mountaineers are great TT - owned 2 this year - only reason for our switch was falling in love at the plant! That rally sure turned out to be expensive!
Hope you enjoy your new unit as much as we have enjoyed ours.

Ours was about 22", if I remember correctly. However, you may need to adjust your hitch again once you have it loaded for travel. Have fun! We got an
"Equal-i-zer" hitch and it drives better than our old setup on a shorter trailer.

I brought my hitch up a notch. I will give that a try. If that doesn't work I think I'll look for someone local to look at it since the dealer is about a 135 miles away it'll probably be cheaper to pay someone to look at it than pay for all the gas to tow it back and forth. thanks for the input.

Jh1802, I may be missing the point so forgive if this is off target. Why not put a level on the A-frame and adjust the ball height until the A-frame is level?

sreigle. After surfing around I now have found out how to figure out the hitch height myself. Most manufacturers have a suggested hitch ball height in thier manuals. Keystone doesn't. The dealer just kept adding links to the dist. bars till the back of my truck came up enough forthe hitch to be 22" from the ground. this resulted in too light of toungue weight(witch made the trailer sway alot). and way too much weight on the front of my truck( witch made a smooth interstate feel like I was driving on a wash board.)
