Looking to upgrade range/stove
Has anyone replaced/upgraded their range? Since I will be removing my range to find and fix a propane leak coming either from my oven pilot light assy or oven burner I have decided to upgrade my range. Mostly because I want electronic ignition for the oven. Plus I would like something that has more of a residential look and feel and better quality. Any suggestions from anyone who has upgraded their range would be appreciated. Thanks.

Saw a picture...think it was trailer life...that showed atwood and suburban units that had what looked like nice cast iron grates on the whole surface area. Sure changed the appearance a bunch. Thought these were upper level units compared to the lower end installed in our units. You may want to check this out. I have been thinking along this line, but I think slow and it will take me awhile to get there. John

My understanding is that Dometic is importing some from Italy that are supposed to be good. Once I get the new knee under control I'm also going to take a serious look at this. Please keep us informed.

Don't know any thing about any of them, but you might look at Dyers RV for a start.

Thanks for the input. I'm just starting to do some research. Doesn't seem to be much difference between them except for size and cosmetics. They all have 3 burners (2 regular, 1 high output). The oven either has a toaster/ broiler section or not and a max temp of 450 or 500 degrees. Piezo ignition or manual. I definitely want piezo ignition for the oven. No more getting down on my knees to light it. I wish one manufacturer would at least have a temperature display.

Yes , I found an article online that was in Trailer life. It looks really nice. I called Dometic and it's still in the works. They will be importing 2 models but they are not available yet and they don't know when. If they were I would have ordered one. I really like it. Here's a link to the article on one of them.

We cook outside and the stove/oven is a bread box.

We us our Convection/Microwave all the time, thus the last two 5ers haven't even had an oven, have storage drawers in it's place.

Isn't there an easier and cheaper solution, to buy an aftermarket igniter for the oven, rather than buying a whole new range? I thought other members were able to find something that could perform electronic ignition for their oven. I hope there is, because it's what I want to eventually do. I certainly don't want to buy a whole new range and we aren't Microwave or convection types of RVers.

I added an electronic igniter to my stove and oven using BBQ grill parts. Works well, and keeps you from having to bend down to light the oven. Here's a link from another forum describing a modification similar to mine.

I'm wasn't thinking of replacing my oven just because I want a ignitor for the oven. This past weekend my propane alarm went off a few minutes after I lit the pilot and turned the oven on.
The pilot was still lit and the oven was working when the alarm went off. I carry an electronic gas leak detector (sniffer) on board for just this reason since the oven, furnace and refrigerator all use propane. There was no leak from the top burners or valves. The leak is coming from behind the oven. Since we are weekend campers and were coming home that afternoon I shut off the propane to the coach and will fix it when I get a chance.
I was thinking since I will be removing the oven to locate and fix the leak I might as well just upgrade to a new oven. Plus it's a great excuse to do an upgrade...for safety reasons
