Another one of our favorite Campgrounds to visit is Bayley's Camping Resort. Of the different resorts we have visited this one is by far the biggest one we have been to. And it is BIG. In 2015 we stayed on site 206. Picture below. The area we stayed in had a new adult pool with hot tubs, bar and grill. There are 2 more like it in the campground, but this is the only one intended for adults only.
Site are wide and deep. the campground offers everything you need, including a restaurant. There is no need to leave! However you would be missing out if you did not take the free shuttle that runs every half hour to Old Orchard Beach. There is an amusement park, games, rides, beach food, shops, and souvenir stores. Dip you toes into the cold North Atlantic Ocean, sun on the beach, or walk the area for all sorts of interesting things to see and do.
The campground (during it's "On" season) can be quite pricey. It isn't for everyone. But with entertainment (Bands, Magicians, et) 3 pool complexes, Store, Restaurant, playgrounds, acres and acres of grass field to run and play in, we believe the price is reasonable. Even so, we take advantage of the "Off" Season rates and are quite pleased with that.
Taking a right out of the campground, down to the fork in the road, bear left and follow the road to the waters edge and find Bayley's Lobster pound. Buy fresh lobster, clams, mussels, have them steamed for you or bring them back to the campsite and cook them yourself.
Cabela's, and L.L. Bean (Freeport, ME) are only but a short ride away. We find ourselves at Bayley's at least once a year!
