New Owners 3440rl
Good morning and hello from Central Oregon.
We just purchased our first Montana, a 3440rl. First was the Coachman in 2002. Then the Arctic Fox in 2009.
I am retired, the wife is still working and we are going to live in this baby until our house is sold and our new home is built. We both love this thing but I am a little disappointed with how sloppy the underneath is, wiring, LARGE open holes and lack of attention to detail and lack of pride in their work.
So today I guess I shall learn more about it and try and plug up everything so we don't have any uninvited guests.
Great forum,
Have a good day,
Flintlock

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new rig. Hopefully you can glean some information to tweak the unit and get it bundled up the way you need it.

I know how you feel. Had two visitations with mice due to the four large holes around the front landing gear and midpoint levelers. Now sealed with stout wire screening in front and thin aluminum sheet in middle. When I dropped my bottoms to put in external sensors on the tanks, there was a ton of sawdust, spare parts, construction debris in the bottom. Wiring runs were crap! Did much to improve how wires were secured in loose bundles and supported in many places. Once you do the extra work, you will have stuff as you should have been done and you know it will be done right. Check torque of your ubolts. Many of us had them loose in spec. Chinese tires? Depends on how heavy your unit is, but they are only good for 65mph. Tank release cables in convenience center should be able to open/close with one hand. If really stiff, then routing is an issue or lubing is needed. Happy with layout of our model and how it was built for most part, but the assembly folks have a way of creating issues. John

Welcome to the forum. I think a lot of us are a bit unhappy with Keystone's price verses quaility. We still like our units just a bit let down on pride of craftsmanship. I guess it took the Japanese imports to make the big three start building quality rigs but I doubt it will ever happen in the RV industry while they are selling them almost as fast as they throw them together.
Oh by the way we are just north of you in sunny Eastern Washington.

From central Arkansas, welcome to the forum. Seems like very few things you buy anymore are made how we would do it if doing it ourselves, but we want it and get it regardless. Hope your Montana brings you as much pleasure as ours has!

Welcome aboard the MOC and enjoy the rig. First thing I did when we got our rig home was seal the holes and gaps underneath so we did not get any unwelcome friends!
Safe travels!
