Tow/Haul
First time in the mountains with the new 2015 F250 with Tow/Haul. Ca 88 to Nevada The Spur, Red lake Grade, Sales Canyon and other long down hill grades. Then Nevada 50 and Spooner Summit 10 miles down a 6% grade. Had no load on but the Tow/Haul was great.

Ours isn't a Ford, but I'd never buy another truck without both the tow/haul and exhaust brakes. Makes the mountains more enjoyable for sure.

There isn't much that I miss from my 2008 Ram 2500 Cummins but the Engine Brake is definitely one. Ford what were you thinking.

Your Ford does have engine/exhaust brake. But in tow/haul mode only. I typically put mine in tow/haul mode on steep declines, even when not towing, to utilize the exhaust brake feature. Easier than manually downshifting, and certainly better than excessive braking.

The new 2015 SuperDuty's have a dashboard button for the exhaust brake, just like the other manufacturers.

Not to mention saving your brakes - on both the trailer and the tow vehicle!

IMO The exhaust brake is the most effective system . However the tow haul is effective once you learn how to use it.

Ford does not have an Exhaust Brake instead they use a Tow Mode feature (transmission down shift) that is activated when you place the truck in tow mode and is coordinated with your braking activity. You can also manually use down shift control when you use the + and - feature on you gear lever or put the transmission in the manual gear. Hope I explain this well enough.

From Ford web site:
tow/haul mode utilizes seamless engine-exhaust braking and selective gearing to improve control on steep downhill grades and minimize brake wear

I am sure the dealer said the dashboard switch on the 2015 was to activate the 20 mph down hill mode.
