And you thought you had it bad?
My buddy has a SOB 40' newer toy hauler, pulling it with a Chevy 3500 diesel SRW. Started on his out west trip in May and blew the tranny. While the truck was down he had a fellow camper help him move his 5th wheel from one site to another using the fellow camper's truck. He didn't get his landing gear down quick enough before the fellow camper pulled the handle and dropped his trailer....right down on the bed rails! Got that fixed, along with his truck's tranny, had a death in the family and had to fly home. Re-started the trip in late June and overheated, some type of fan issue had to be repaired. While camped and waiting for the latest truck repair he walked into the pool and forgot to take his cell phone out of his pocket. A couple days later his DW broke her glasses, a day later he sprained his ankle. Last week slide wouldn't go in all the way. Couldn't get anyone to work on it so they drove all day with it sticking out 11" to Chicago CW. CW checks it out, gets approval from their extended warranty company (rig is only 2 years old) and now says it may take a month to get the parts and they are not sure even then if they will be the correct parts. So I guess the next time something goes wrong with one of our rigs on a road trip....it can get worse I guess.

Poor guy. That is more than a few bumps in the road, it is like he tried to drive cross the Grand Canyon. WOW. Here's hoping he is done with the nasties for a LONG LONG time.

It does happen. About 20 years ago, we were driving our little 23 foot motorhome through Indio, California and smoke started pouring out the front. We lifted the "hood" inside the coach and the fire blasted inside, up to the ceiling. Fast action with a fire extinguisher saved the coach. Each time it was "fixed" by the shop in Indio, we would go down and get it and it would DIE less than a mile from the shop. THREE TIMES!!!! TOTALED!

The good part of being stuck at the Chicago Camping World is that they are within 40 miles or so of their daughter and family, which they were going to stop and visit anyway. They both have a really upbeat attitudes and handle bad things really well.
