repairs done
I jacked the wall up and welded support back in place. Still have a slight wall movement. Looking for ideas as it is manageable but will need to fixed from time to time. I am thinking about bolting through the wall to the frame. Its 10 years old and we are planning another rig, but until this one dies will repair. Thanks check out pics of failure

Frustrating to see this type of damage. Do you think this is due to frame flex or primarily poor workmanship on the welds? GREAT photos and docs too!

Good job! Hope I never have to deal with it, but thanks for showing the way.

I.think the welding is the issue. They could have done a complete weld rather than tacking. I also have to say we do put alot of miles and the moving earth quake always has a loose screw. I WILL POINT OUT! If you see something crooked in the house there is a reason. Lol

You say you jacked up the wall then re welded the sides, in my opinion I do not think the wall is the issue it is a main goose neck frame issue. I feel the frame is flexing upward and breaking away from the wall, if the wall was sagging down one would think the fiberglass siding would crack, especially when you were jacking it back into place. Just my opinion as my self I have had frame flex issues x2 but not to this extent, Good Luck

I'm just curious, if it is a frame flex issue, did the Mfg complete a repair for you, or were you on your own? If it's frame flex, I would think that's a design issue and they should fix it????

Mark-- I don't think Dave would have had much luck since their Big Sky is a 2004. He could call Keystone to see if they would help out but the chances are pretty slim on that because of the age of the unit! It is worth a call just to see however! I've had a few thing done at the Fall Rally to our 2004 but they were actually minor things like slide adjustment which they did and replacement of a delaminated storage door but they gave me the door and I have to put it in when I have some time later on and recover from the knee replacement. Thanks to Keystone for their 15 minute session with each rig at the Fall Rally over the last two years. They've not only helped us out but a lot of the MOC members with problems a whole lot worse than ours.

Ah, good point. I missed the mfg date on the rig. Hopefully if it was a newer rig (1-2 yrs maybe) they would do something. Thanks for the catch.
