kitchen table modifications

We have sat at a lot of RV dinette kitchen tables and all are too short for us. So I anticipate a project to modify the table in our new 3402RL. The 2014 dinettes have a partition in the middle that jams our knees and the low table height along with the mechanism under the table jams your thighs. For starters, I'm thinking about putting some extension to the leg feet to raise them a few inches. I hope that as long as I don't put wood screws into the floor that go thru to the compartment below, I won't do any damage.

Any thoughts on this?

How about lowering the legs on the chairs....Sorry could not resist.

My 3402RL has the fairly large pedestal that is screwed to the floor with 4 screws. If you added 2 inches to the bottom of the pedestal base you would need to add 2 inches to the length of the screws. The other possible method would be to make a round base the diameter of the existing base, attach that to the floor and re-attach the original base to the raised one.

For the knees you might be able to make the pedestal smaller diameter although it would not be as stable.

Don't know how the newer tables are built. My '07 table did not have a swivel. So I detached the pedastal from the table and added a swivel. But the way it is made I could have easily added a spacer on top of the pedastal to raise the table top. Might be another option.

From our looking around, the Montana 2013 had the pedestal with 4 feet extending in an X from the pedestal. In 2014, they went with a design that support a leaf that stores in the middle in the partition that extends from the table top to your ankles. The legs are on the outside. To me the ideal solution is one in the front living model of the Jayco Eagle Premier. It's more of a bistro height table. I figure I know enough carpenters and cabinet makers to figure out a solution once it's parked where I can study it. At a minimum, I could take the table top and put 4 legs at the corners that are the right height and screw them to the floor.
