Propane regulator
I ran out of propane yesterday and when I put the tanks back in I smelled propane. I checked the switch and it was still showing red. I tried both tanks and it stayed red. When I put my hand on top where the little lever is propane was leaking out when switched to that tank. What would cause this? No propane is going through the valve just out the top.

I believe there is a diaphragm in the switch over valve. sounds like it has cracked or tore,

I had the exact same problem a couple months ago. Had to replace the regulator. Strange how it happens when you are just swapping out the tanks without actually touching the regulator.

It's important to note. When you first open the valve on the bottle, do it very, VERY, slowly. If you crank open that valve full bore, you take the chance of blowing that diaphragm.
