New to RVing
We just bought our Montana 2955RL in Fla. We live in GA. Our trip back from Fla to GA was GREAT!! The coach performed better than expected. My truck didn't get the milage I was hoping. It is a 2000 F-350 dual rear wheel with a 7.3 diesel. Fuel milage was around 10 MPG while pulling the camper. Is that about right or should I think about having my truck checked out?

raceman, sounds about right to me. I have not checked the mileage on my Dodge, but that's about what I expect and from what I have read, sounds reasonable. Perhaps someone else with your setup can do a better job.

Welcome to the MOC. Milage is about right for a dually. For some reason I get better milage up North. Mine runs 12-14 towing. I have a 3:55 ratio which helps. Also my weight is probably lower.
Mileage seems to go to pot above 2900 RPM.

John & Melinda,
Welcome to the MOC. Good to hear you are happy with your new unit. We do not have the dual wheels and Tom says we get 11-12 mpg when towing our 3295RK.

Hello John and welcome to the MOC gang. Congrats on the new Montana. You did not mention if you have a manual or auto tranny, the rearend ratio or how fast you tow. All of these will effect your mileage. All things considered, 10 MPG sounds reasonable. We get around 11.5 MPG with the Dodge/Cummins with 6 speed and 3.55 rearend towing a 3280RL (11,800#). I like to tow at about 65 MPH on interstates. The Cummins runs 1800 RPM in 6th gear at this speed. Good luck and happy camping!!!

Hi John, welcome to the forum. I just got back from a trip to Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. The worst mileage I got was 9.9, the best I got was 14.3 while towing.

welcome aboard John and Melinda! Know you will continue to love your new Monty. On average we get 10.5MPG, so sounds like you are in the ballpark. Many happy trails to you ....

Welcome aboard John and Melinda! I guess I am just echoing what others have already told you. I have gotten as bad as 8.5 when bucking a head wind where the combined speed was over 105 mph to 12.5 on level ground, reasonable starts, no more than 55 MPH for long stretches and good weather. I find my truck like is in the 50s for the best preformance. Again as posted use your head driving not your foot and you will get the best milage.
Good luck and enjoy.
