Hmmm do I have a tank problem???
Ok, we were doing dishes tonite and I usually keep the galley tank valve closed to use it to flush the slinky out. Well guess we been doing a lot of dishes and water backed up into the sink, tank full. Ok no problem, just go pull the handle and drain the tank. So outside I go and pull the handle but I also hear water dripping or better yet gushing out on the ground. On the far side of the trailer in the rear corner, which was the low side, water is running out from the black belly cover. The question is is the tank suppose to be sealed or is there an air baffle or what is going on here. I check under the sink and no water there so has to be around the tank.

The galley tank is subject to cracking at the top where the drain enters, which will cause it to overflow when overfilled. This sounds like what you are experiencing. There are three normal solutions: replace the tank (expensive), repair the tank (requires dropping the underbelly and the tank), or do not fill the tank completely which will eliminate the possibility of overflowing. The worst part is, you won't know the best solution until you pull the underbelly and inspect where the leak is occurring to rationalize which is the best solution.

It may just be a fitting that isn’t sealing well. When the tank gets full, it can spill out into the underbelly. We had that problem in our first Monty and the solution for us was to simply leave the drain valve open. It worked for us and we still do that today. However, there are varied opinions on leaving that drain valve open.

These tanks are a weak point. We had FIVE bad ones on our 06 3400/2 black, 2 grey and 1 galley.

I am filling it now, just not to the point it backs up into the sink, to see if it overflows. I was hoping it might just be the fitting going into the tank.

To know for sure, you will have to drop the underbelly and inspect.

We had an odor problem. Turns out that the pipe connections, both of them from the shower to grey tank were loose and leaking. Just tightened them up and problem solved. You may have a loose connection.

That's what I am hoping for, we'll find out for sure once I get her home and can get into the belly. I probably have it bout half full now and no trips so must be something on top, hopefully just the connections...

We're having our galley tank replaced at the moment. A Fernco coupler was added to aid in the re installation, but my thoughts are that such a flexible coupler might be good preventative maintenance.

Well it's good to know as my tank is probably bout half full and it is leaking???? Guess we'll see how good this extended warranty is I have now.....If it needs replaced, and most likely it does. I'll question them about that flexable fitting. Being that my trailer is a rear kitchen, and that tank it in the very rear, I reckon it takes a beating from all the bouncing. Although this is our first trip out with the new EZ Flex suspension and it is also the first trip that everything stayed on the lazy susan in the upper cabinet. And that is motoring thru the Texas hill country back roads which I guess to a Texan they are hilly but also very curvey. Normally everything would have been bounced off the lazy susan. But that's another subject, but might have helped the tank if it had been installed early on, yeah I know, but I can wish can't I...lol lol
