What's With It????
I got off work this evening and diesel was up .30/gal.
I’m sick & tired of what the oil Companies are doing to us!
Nothing less than Holiday gouging IMHO!

Even more puzzling is all of a sudden the difference in diesel and gasoline. In our home town diesel is 65 cents more than gasoline. What gives?

Our government, specifically the EPA is the reason a by-product of gasoline refining (diesel and kerosene) is more expensive. Wonder why groceries cost more? Could it be the delivery/transportation costs?

No you are just beginning to see what the drought is going to do to grocery prices. Saw peanut butter yesterday at $9 a jar. The effects are just now starting to trickle down. Many manufacturers still had some inventory when the drought hit and others had product contracted for, but most had products in the warehouses that hadn't been shipped yet. Beef prices stayed down because ranchers we selling off their herds they couldn't feed or water. Now all that is over and the shortages and associated pricing is starting to hit.

Been in Charleston,SC all summer. Gas was as low as 3.06 a couple of weeks ago with diesel staying around 3.85 and never moving more than a few pennies all summer.

Middle East present issues. BBL of oil has gone up nearly 3.00 in the last three days, speculation in the Commodities market drives prices up..That is the way it works always has.. Gas has been inching up also.Remember everything moves on Diesel, kerosene, etc.Trucks, boats, aircraft, trains.

The simplest explanation is that Diesel trucks don't vote.
Every time gas goes up a dime, people scream. Oil companies know that and to keep Congress off their @$$ they pass the majority of any oil price increase into the diesel price. The result is a delayed increase in the cost of transported goods which is prorated across all of the goods in a particular truckload. Thus a spike in diesel is a gradual increse in food prices. I have seen as much as a dollar difference between diesel and gas.
That is my humble opinion, no proof.

It is way more complex that we think. My family was in the commodities business for years, not energy.Commodities are a volatile market and speculation plays a big part in the pricing of commodities.Traders are speculating that the present Mideast situation will cause a shortage of oil therefore a increase in price of a BBL of oil which is already happening.Millions/billions are at stake in what happens If a solution is reached on the present mideast issues we will see a radid sell off and prices will drop. One can make Millions or lose millions literally overnight. That is how it is....

You can't let fuel prices bother you or you'll drive yourself crazy...they are what they are, and we have to pay to play. There is nothing we can do about prices. Now, if you really can't afford what the going rate is for diesel...maybe you should not have a big RV.
