BF Goodrich Commercial Recall
Just got my official notice in the mail for the recall of my tires on the Montana. My tires are in the criteria for the recall. Just ordered the replacements from Tires Plus in Minot, ND . Should get them on next week. I have been reading about the recalls here earlier this summer but my official notice came Tuesday.

Recall seems to be well organized.

We got our notice and they said if we had already replaced the tires (which we had,due to tread seperation) all we had to do was supply them with a bill of sale and the serial numbers off the old tires. Yeah, right, who has the numbers off their present tires, let alone old ones

I love it when they do that. Wonderful understanding human beings.

They said that they had 142 tread separations out of 810,000 tires so they are replacing them all.

143 tread seperations counting mine. I'm sure they figured there are some that weren't reported but that's still a small amount and it's nice that they are being so proactive

I wonder what the failure rate was on the Marathon China Bombs?

Well, I hitched up the Monty this afternoon and made the 75 mile trek to Minot, ND to get my new BF Goodrich Commercial TA's on the recall notice. They were put on at Tires Plus in no time. I signed off and noticed their bill to BFG was around 1000 bucks. Ran the original BFGs for two seasons which were flawless for me. I have to say BFG/Michellin is a stand up company for standing by their products.

Charlie, do you still have the sales receipt from the original BFG's? The DOT numbers should be on it.

That's one of the problems with full timing. There is a limit to the amount of paperwork you can carry with you.

Hello, I'm new to the MOC but have owned Montana 5th wheels since 2003. Recently my wife and I purchased a used 2010 3455SA in excellent condition. It has seen little use and has probably less than 1000 road miles. It does have Goodyear Marathon tires. I went to Keystone's recall page and did not see a recall for tires. Can you tell me the specific details of this recall you've received from Keystone? I know my original warranty has expired but there is an extended warranty on the trailer, and perhaps Goodyear would be willing to work with me. We are planning to head south from Washington State this winter and I'd like to know if I'm endangering ours and other people's lives by driving on these tires. Thanks, Brian Grad aka Gradified.

Allright I understand my confusion. I have Goodyear Marathon's but someone questioned the failure rate on this tire and I associated this with the recall. Not true. Sorry bout that.

I had a few hundred miles on the marathons and read about the issues and replaced them with the BF Goodrich tires so I could have a piece of mind while pulling the Monty. I had the BF Goodrich recall done today and they replaced the tires with all terrain tires and they don't say commercial t/a on them . What's the deal there?

Sounds like a strange kettle of fish. I'm going to get some wear on these Marathons before I spend any more money. Aside from less than stellar performance at least we're not hearing about significant premature catastrophic failures, else wise there would be a recall issued by Goodyear. I have experienced a blow out on a 2955RL while traveling at 60+ and was able to get over before the tire came apart, but I've seen some awful damage to other rigs when the tire came up inside. The manufacturers should think about using something like carbon fiber shielding in the wheel wells.

Ummm... yes there are quite more than just a few catastrophic failures, and the problem is Goodyear will not admit there is a problem, Hence...no recall.
You can put more miles on them if you want, but they aren't called Maribombs for nothing.

There are regulations on tire recalls, I may be incorrect, but as I recall a passenger vehicle has a different set of recall rules than a trailer that does not carry persons when traveling, ours were ready to blow when we changed them at one year and about 10000 miles
