Surge Protectors
Do any of you use surge protectors when you hook up to electricity? Any comments or suggestions?

Go up to the right hand corner and do a search for surge protectors. There has been recent detailed discussions of surge protectors, to include advantages and specific manufacturers and products. You will find a 4 page thread that is very informative.

Use it (Progressive Industries hard wired electrical monitoring system), have had it for over four years, and would not be without it.

What you really need is an EMS. We use progressive, but there are others. You want something that protects you not only from surges, but also from low and high voltage and other potential problems.

Just need to decide if you want portable or hard-wired, which features, and which brand. I went with the Progressive Industries 50 amp hard-wired (EMS-HW50C) so it won't get stolen from the pedestal. I also like this version because it has a remote monitor you can mount inside your unit. Like said above, it monitors for low and high voltage which is what you want, to cover both. Low voltage is just as bad for ruining your equipment. My opinion is it is a necessary piece of equipment.

I HATE to admit it, but-------last fall, just before the Goshen Rally, I learned the hard way. Both TV's, microwave, refrigerator. and the inverter. Now all hookups include the surge protector. I got it from Camping world and it has shown me several times, all Campgrounds do not have good electricity. The Serviceman at the campground (2) argued with me that there was nothing wrong. Management agreed with me, as they had us move to another location. GET and USE the Surge Protector. Just my humble and bad experienced opinion.
