Need new home theater
Well, our DVD home theater finally bit the dust and we are looking to replace it, and the speakers if suggested.
What HT's and speakers do all of you recommend?

Bite the bullet, do it right, and spring for the Bose!! Just my opinion since it is way up there on my want list!

Ours died two years ago. In our rig, the space where the home theater system is located is a small slot below the TV. And the speakers are located in small cutouts above the TV. I went to Best Buy. They had several different model systems by several different manufacturers. I bought a Panasonic Blu-ray DVD home theater system (complete with new speakers) as that one was the closest in size to the original and would fit in the small slot with no modifications. The speakers were near in size but slightly larger. I had to do a little cabinet modification to get the new speakers installed. Used the existing speaker wiring.
And the brackets holding the existing rear speakers would not fit the new ones. So I had to fabricate small strips of metal (from Home Depot) to adapt the speakers to the existing brackets. Could have bought some new speaker brackets, but they were proud of those. A couple dollars for a small strip of metal did the trick.
I could not find a system with the AB speaker feature the old one had. But do not really miss that feature as we rarely used it.
But when done, the sound quality is much better than the old one. You really do not need a lot of power in the confines of the Monty. I am sure our neighbors appreciate us keeping it low and not vibrating the walls. And we already had a number of Blu-ray DVDs so we can watch those in the Monty now.

I own a bose system which at this time I can't remember the exact system. It was the big one for a very big room. Double satellite speakers, very heavy sub-woofer and was very capable of the 5.1 surround. My problem with the system I do own ( which my daughter is now using)is that for one it is very heavy, 2nd Bose requires the use of there speaker wires on the system I have. Which presents a problem with how do you get them wires to the speakers from the slide out to the present speaker places?
My guess is there is a better Bose system that works. Not a big believer in the 3-2-1 system. Like the rear speakers. Any ideas MOC'ers?
