Dead Bolt Lock
While unlocking our entry door the dead bolt lock out with the key. I am not able to get the lock back into the receptacle. Does any one know how to repair the lock.

Mine did the exact same thing, I couldn't get the cylinder back in properly either so I just replaced the entire latch assembly. Cost about $40 at Tweety's.

Sometimes the screws that hold the entire latch assembley to the door backout. You can see these screws from the inside of the door. If this is the problem tightening them will align the lock. Jim

Mine fell apart inside the door. The inside of the lock/latch fell apart. There's a plate with 3 screws that hold everything together, if these screws get loose it lets the stuff inside come apart and not work properly or not at all. Last year we got locked IN our monty.

Called a locksmith and he told me how to repair it. First make sure the deadbolt is in the unlocked position on the door. Second move the tumbler in the door vertical, it turns easily. Insert key into lock cylinder, notice the most rearward tab sticking from the cylinder and push it in while inserting it back into the lock. This tab holds the cylinder in the lock. Lock works fine.

Same here. Got locked IN last year. Had to remove the screws, use a screwdriver to slide the deadbolt back, then put it all back together correctly. Has worked fine since.

Our dead-bolt came out with the key in August. I put the dead-bolt back in the latch and it worked well for a week then the cylinder apparently fell out while we were towing. We just used the other locking cylinder on the latch for a few days, but in September decided to put a new latch on the door. The cost of a new door latch varies from $35 to $45.
