Getting a Buzz in the Bathroom
Whoa! Not that kind of buzz!!! Anyway, while camping in our first weekend out in our new to us Montana, we constantly heard buzz sounds coming from the bathroom. Checked it out and seems to be coming from the mounted electrical panel above the stool. Is this normal? Sometimes it was quiet, other times the somewhat noticeable buzzing. Loud enough that while in bed with the bathroom door shut we could hear it. Thanks, D

Ours does not do that and neither did the converters in either of our prior two Montanas. Maybe one of our electrically-experienced members can give you some help with how to check it out.

It could be the fan in the converter, or it could be a bad circuit breaker. Try switching off the breaker for the converter to see if that stops the noise. If not, put your hand on each of the breakers to see if you can feel vibration, or if a breaker is warmer than the others. If you can isolate the noise to a single breaker, switch that breaker off and on to see if resetting it will stop the noise. If it is a breaker, note what circuit the breaker controls and check what's plugged into it. That should help narrow things down a bit.

Unplug the trailer from power and take the cover off the circuit breaker panel. You might have loose wiring on a breaker or the buss bar. Take a screw driver and tighten all the connections on the breakers and neutral (white wires) buss. Make sure all the wires are secure in the breakers. Give them a little tug to make sure. Let us know if you find anything loose. This could be the source of the buzzing. Do it soon. Did I mention to UNPLUG from power first?

Thanks Jim & others....will follow your guidance. Never had the hum in the TT, thought it was quite peculiar when we first heard it.

Our converter used to make funny noises back there. Never had a problem, just "noises."

Dino,
If turning off the converter circuit stops the noise it is probably the fan in it. They are on a variable temperature switch, and when they start they buzz in between stopped and running. Irritating, especially when trying to nap. My test converter in my shop does it for hours whenever the temp gets above 80 unless I am using 12 volts coming out of it to charge a battery or power a circuit. Once the fan fully starts it runs quiet. Checking all power panel connections is a needed maintenance job once a year though, vibration is our enemy.
