Your restaurant recommendations? - Comfort Food
Wherever we go, we ask locals to recommend their favorite local comfort food / family style restaurant. It dawned on us, why not ask
MOC'ers for their recommendations? We'll then, wherever we land, have a place to go look for recommendations.
Everyone please feel free to add new threads for other food types.
We'll start it off. Our favorite comfort food restaurant is Corner Cafe in the metro Kansas City area. There are Corner Cafe
restaurants, a local chain, in Riverside, MO, Liberty, MO, and Independence, MO, all in the metro KC area. We were
introduced to Corner Cafe by Ozz (Jim and Sue).

One of my all time favorites is Mel's Hot Dogs, on Busch Blvd in Tampa, FL, just east of the entrance to Busch Gardens. I have been eating there for the last 28 years. Mel uses all beef Vienna brand dogs, and does them Chicago style, steamed with steamed poppy seed rolls. It is a family run operation, and just a fun place to visit. Warning! You CANNOT get your rigs any where close to Mel's!! But if you are in town for the big RV show in January or for football or you are doing the snow bird thing, or any other reason it is well worth the stop!

Lambert's!!! We've been to 2 of the 3 locations (Sikeston, MO; Foley, AL; and, Ozark, MO) and both were FABULOUS ... and real diet-destroyer.

For true comfort food, try the Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls, Texas. Wonderful fried catfish, chicken fried steaks, homemade bread, and homemade pies. We used to drive to the Bluebonnet from Austin at least once a week to get some of that good home cooking.
