Lippert electric motor
Well we almost made it out of the drive-way on the maiden voyage of our new Monty 3750. Our driveway apron was wide enough for the 29' 5er we had, so I figured a 5' extension would accommodate the 40' Monty. Making the turn INTO the drive was close but I had 2' to spare to avoid the culvert. Left yesterday morning, made a wide turn out onto our very narrow road, asked the wife if I had enough room to make the turn. Let's just say she miscalculated where the wheels on the 5er were going to hit. Loud THUD as the right hand wheels went into culvert and dropped about 18 inches. No structural damage to the frame but the brunt of the impact hit the electric motor for the rear stabilizer and basically snapped it at the housing to the frame. Once we got to our CG, I crawled under and assessed the damage. Removing the motor was no biggie and installing a new one shouldn't be either. Now I just need to locate one. Anyone have a spare laying around? Hate to call Lippert, but that may be my only option. The moral of this story is..never lie to your wife about "measurement"...it'll come back to haunt you.

That is a huge difference. It certainly pays to look around! Good luck.

For about $550 one can put the dual motor stabilizers on. I think they would make for faster and stronger stabilizers.

Kevin,,,after 31 years of being married, I've learned to pick my battles. My wife miscalculated and she felt terrible about it. Things can be replaced, a great woman can't. But I think you already know that. Appreciate the well wishes!

Can it be welded? Might be cheaper than buying a new one.

I may take the broken one to a welding shop to see what they can do about fixing it. I've already ordered the new assembly, but with my luck, it's probably a good idea to have a "spare" rear stabilizer sitting around.
