Do you use a power surge protection device

Good day I would like to know if you use a device for power surge, if yes I would like to know which one it is and is it hard wired or portable?

Thanks

I have the following: Portable 50 amp Surge Guard brand which I recently got on sale from CW. Used it for the first time this past week and it worked perfectly.

I also have the 50 amp from CW. One thing I like about it is that it checks the wiring in the campground hookup before it actually kicks on to allow power to the Montana.

We use a 50A portable. CW would be my last choice for purchase, they are extremely expensive, even when 'on sale.' Got mine here for $270 a few years ago: https://www.rvpartsoutlet.com/newstore/nojava/index.cfm

I use a 50A Surge Guard. It is portable but I have had my unit rewired so it can be connected in the forward storage compartment.

Hardwired 50 amp Progressive Industries Electrical Monitoring System. Wired and mounted in battery compartment. Remote LED indicator that gives error codes (Still haven't ran the wiring to mount the display inside the rig....imagine that H. John!!!)

Whatever you get, get SOMETHING. Surges and brownouts can cause a lot of damage.

We've got the 50Amp Surge Guard portable. The only problem we have had is some outlet boxes are too close to the ground, and it doesn't have room to hang. Other than that it is simple insurance.

I installed the 50A Progressive Industries hard wired EMS unit with the remote readout about 2 months ago. Very nicely built unit. The only nit pick I have about the unit is the remote read out. It has the line coming out of the bottom, so when you mount it on the wall, you can't hide the line. It's not very noticeable, but it's too bad they didn't make a provision to have the line come out the back of the unit instead.

I have the hard wired 50A Surge Guard. Camping World had them on sale in the summer for $287. After purchace and paying Mich tax, exchange on the money and taxes at Canadian Customs[13%] I paid half of what it would have cost me in Ontario.

I installed a 50A Progressive Industries hard wired EMS with the remote readout two years ago. I installed it in the wall next to the vacumm and the electric panel. The remote is mounted below the panel and next to the entrance door so I can look at it after I set up without having to go through the trailer.

There's no doubt the portable ones are easier to use, but they are also easier to lose, either by theft or forgetting them. That's why I went to the hard wired unit. Plus I mounted mine immediately behind the electrical panel so it takes up no additional room.

progressive industries EMS PT-50C. We left it portable and have not forgot it or lost it in 3 years.. I can look out the desk window and see it blinking away. Would not leave home without it.

Do any of you use the EMS PT50 WITH a Hughes Autoformer? I can't seem to use both together....

Phil,
What seems to be the problem when you try to use them together? High voltage?

I put the EMS first, then the Autoformer and the power cuts out. Seems like this should work as others have done it, Bingo, I believe is one.....When I use them seperately they work fine......
