God willing and the creek don't rise we will be heading to the RGV right after Christmas (Grandma won't leave before Christmas) and staying at Oleander Acres. Come to think of it the creek is frozen that time of year so if the snow isn't too deep like 4 feet we'll head out right after Christmas.

Yes, my wife & I looked at the calendar and we have about 6 weeks until we start on our way south.
I hope we are done with our storage building before we have to leave, we are doing it ourselves.

I'll be in Texas on-and off for the winter.
Oops! That's where my stick house is, Texas City, TX
We got lots of CG's in the area, and cheaper than the RGV

If the Grand Master sees fit...........we will be at Sunshine RV (Lakewood section) in Harlingen...from whenever DW gets clearance until it gets too warm to stay there...
Well...the Grand Master has spoken...Joyce developed a hernia within the last 2 months and as result we are grounded.........The travel insurance company stated in no uncertain terms...You go, she ruptures you pay....we arent going....her Doctor advised that the hernia is the direct result of too few and improper stitching when they sewed her up in Harlingen Medical Center in 2005....So, I wonder, why cant we go back down there and get them to fix it??? at any rate there is a prime site available at Sunshine for someone.........sad...

Wish we could go back to the RGV we miss TEXAS. Loved the sign "Welcome Home Winter Texans". Our last winter there we were at the Green Gate, very nice and a great place to stay. Phil you will like Kerrville Texas very nice. Can't remember the Steak house in the town but if its still there just ask any local the name they will know. Hope all have fun in the RGV. We will be leaving for Gulf Shores the last week of Oct and stay there until the 15 Mar 2010. GBY....

Pat & I will be at Canyon Lake RV Resort in Mission. We'll be on site 37. We plan on leaving right after Christmas.
They have a program where they help build homes in Nuevo Progreso. So far they have built over 300 one room houses. I have 40 years experience as a carpenter and this would give me something to do.

We are looking at So. Texas for our first winter there. We have formerly wintered in Arizona and wish for a change of scenery. We want to go to the MOC Ralley in Kerrville, and So. Texas would be the best location to go there in March. We are open for suggestions as to RV parks that have treated the fulltimer best. We don't golf so that isn't a needed extra. We thought about the Brownsville area but any area is on the table. This would be our first trip to Texas.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Steve

Look at the McAllen/Mission area. Stay away from the Brownsville area as I wouldn't recommend that border crossing. Also a lot of stolen vehicles up that way. My opinion.

Steve,
Some really good RV parks in the Austin, Dripping Springs area. The Austin area is a good base camp for seeing the Hill Country. Let me know if you are interested in the area and I can post some campgrounds. We have a nice RV park about 15 miles from us. Also several state campgrounds if you are looking for places to stay for a couple of weeks. I am not sure if they will let you stay monthly.
We plan on being at Kerrville in March. Looking forward to meeting you in person.

Colleen,
It would appear the the Dripping Springs location would be a "more central" location than one in the Brownsville area. We could unhook the 5er and travel to many regions without too many hours on the road and see many things.
We also have family in the Cooperas Cove, Tx area, near Killeen, and we would be much closer to Kerrville for the ralley.
Thanks for the info. Could I use the GSC search tool for campgrounds surrounding this area?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Colleen,
I should have mentioned that we would appreciate any suggested RV parks or State parks in your area that you have experienced.
Thanks,
Steve

Hazmic [Mickey and Mary and Wilson] will be at the same spot that we were the last few years. We will be at Winter Ranch Alamo TX on lot 481 and plan on leaving the cold state of Iowa around the 15 of November and stay till April 1 of 2010. Is someone going to set up monthly get togethers? I sure wish Carol and Al was going to be there.
