TV reception
I can not get my satellite receiver to work when it is hooked up through the factory installed wiring. It works great when connected directly to the receiver. Cable TV works great through the factory installed wiring. Am I doing something wrong or is there an electrical component that is preventing my satellite from working on the installed wiring? And is there anything I can do to correct this issue? My camper is a 2002 model.

Are you trying to connect your satellite input to the cable input on the rig? That won't work. You have to have a separate input for the satellite. I installed one on our rig (2000 model) then into the back of the satellite receiver. This allows you to leave the antenna/cable input connected to the antenna input on the satellite receiver.

If you are sure you are hooked up properly you may want to check the amplifier switch usually located near the bedroom TV. This switch must be off.

I'm not sure what camper you have, but with my 3400, I connect the cable from the dish to the cable connection in the bay. In the overhead cabinet at the main TV, I disconnect the short loop at the two outlets and connect a cable from the top outlet to the satellite receiver. I have a Dish Network dual receiver so I connect the TV-1 output of the receiver to the main TV and the TV-2 output to the lower outlet that I removed the loop from. With the pre-amp on the over the air antenna turned off, that setup gives me satellite at both TV's.

This photo, provided by SteveR, will help you understand the wiring for your trailer.
I think you are inserting your SAT box in the wrong location when wiring through the cable link. Remember to turn off the TV Amp (green light) when using Satellite.

I think the wiring in the 2002 models is different. They don't have the loop, if I recall (we had a 2001 and 2003). They had a separate satellite connector on the outside, like Orv mentioned. The diagram works for those with a single connector for both catv and satellite.

If I recall, those earlier models also had two connectors on the 12v plate in the closet, the one with the booster button. I cannot remember whether a loop or other change had to take place at that location. We didn't have a dish so never tried it on our 2001 and 2003 Montanas. Maybe someone else knows? Maybe my memory is faulty, too.

I've slept since then, but when I tried to run a satellite receiver through the antenna booster, it would not pass the voltage from the receiver to the LNB. My son changed the wiring on the antenna booster and added another plate with connector for the receiver. Problem solved.

I've always used the factory cable hookup on my 2000 and 2005 model for my satellite ... you just have to turn off the batwing antenna amp when watching satellite TV. Your satellite connection doesn't like the 12v from the amp. Or ... as stated above, isolate your batwing antenna input.
