So, Sue hears this loud 'Pop'...........
Left our beloved Island this morn early, happy as clams to be headed for the Texas Hill Country, maybe find a hollowed out log to snuggle in, after we sell our primary stick house, we were on 1604 loop. The aforementioned sound occurred. I looked in the opposing lane and a big truck, pulling another big truck, seemed to emit a cloud of dust.
I figured he had some sort of problem, only a trucker would know, so we continued. About a mile ahead, the grand-daddy of traffic jams awaited us. We slowed to the 2 or 3 mph, and went a few more miles, when a nice motorist told us we had a flat on our trailer. I pulled to the side, got the air hose out and tried to revive the flat to no avail. About 10 miles of bumper to bumper ahead of us, (with no exit)so I drove across the grass to the side road and pulled off a block or so later in a lumber yard at an intersection. Got all ready to change the tire, and looked across the street at a tire shop... Must have done something right, in the last few month's.
I backed across the road and about 6 guys crowded around us telling jokes, jacking up the trailer, telling more jokes, we had a tire party. Nice folks, probably weren't 15 teeth between them, but they looked sweet to Sue and I. We got the spare on, I told them to put a tube in the broken one, and get me a new trailer tire, so I can drive down the road to home with two spares. I will arm wrestle with the Mission folks later. Left the spare, it looked OK, but had a hole somewhere.
We made it to Boerne (Alamo Fiesta RV Resort) in pretty good shape, had a frosty one.
We got a call from the tire shop, he said he couldn't find a Mission.
I said good... Find another tire of some sort and we will come and get it in a few days.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what you get for being nice, a close tire shop.

Thanks, guys.
I just went into town and located a donut shop. (Opens at 4:30 A.M., I will go later....)I will buy a 'couple dozen creamed filled, chocolate topped, sprinkled with nuts, messy, good old fattening tastys for the fellas.
I would like to repay their kindness and good will. (I asked how much the tire change was when we were there, the man doing the work told me not to worry about it until he found me a tire.)
This town is so nice, hope we can find something and sell the K.C. place.
Life is good on the road...........

Ozz -
Glad for your good fortune after the mishap. I gotta' ask - how did you find the donut shop - follow a police officer?

Ha!, no, I asked a local. I bet the police do know where it is.
Four of these guys were in the street blocking taffic, so we could back onto it, like long time friends, helping out.
Like I said, good people.

Glad it worked out well. You were fortunate, but, as mentioned earlier nice guys get the breaks sometimes.

Hey Ozz, did this little bit of travel on the flat not hurt your aluminum wheel?

Buddy, actually you could hardly tell it was flat. The tire next to it kept it up off the rim.
I have some thoughts and opinions I will state on another thread.

Ozz you must have a horseshoe up..... Who pulls of a highway with a flat looks up and low and behold...a tire shop. You do have a friend in high places looking after you. I always find good people willing to help when We have the 5ver hooked up. Get rid of the Missions, but thats another Topic on another Thread.

Ozz, I guess you should be thankful there was not any damage to the underside or the plastic wheel well trim.
Keep up the safe travels the rest of the way home!
