Securing Dinette Table amd Chairs
My wife insists on strapping the dinette chairs around the table post when traveling. I think they would be O.K. unstrapped with normal road bounce. She doesn't want me to try traveling unstrapped. She is usually right. Has anyone had any success traveling unstrapped or am I going to hear from her "I told you so."

We have never strapped our chairs and have never had one fall over. For some reason the recliners are a different story. If they aren't strapped they'll be turned over.
Probably because the recliners are in the back and it would have more bounce.

Thanks for the info Hugh M. Do the chairs bounce around at all. My wife is concerned they will damage the curtains bouncing around

We have a deal. If my wife wants something I am not concerned about, then she can accept responsibility for doing it. We have never strapped the dining chairs. In the 340RLQ, there is no place for them to go. After two years of full timing there is no evidence of a rub.

Our chairs don't move..but they are over the wheels. I wouldn't worry about the chairs, they won't damage the curtains. At least ours have not.

We traveled from Ohio to Oregon and back last summer and we do not tie down our chairs at the dinning table. The table is screwed to the floor and won't move, but we still put a rug on top so there is no chance of it rubbing the counter.
I removed the floor tie downs at the recliners and strap the rockers back to back with the end table between.

We unscrewed the table and never tie down any chairs. We didn't in our previous fiver either. Thousands of miles, and never had a problem.
Happy trails.....................

We don't strap anything down. Things left on the recliners usually end up on the floor but everything else stays put.

We don't strap our dining chairs and we have also unscrewed and moved our table. No problem
And we put the backs of our recliners up against each other when we move them back and they don't
move either. And we carry things on them and no problem there, either. Guess we've been lucky.

We have a RK and no problem with not straping down the chairs, they have never move after 10,000 miles. We do strap the two recliners back to back.

Thanks to everybody for the great feed back. I let my wife read everyone's response and it looks like I don't have to hear "I told you so"

We strap everything!! Unscrewed the dining table, but strap the chairs to the table post, strap each recliner down and recently added a strap to the sofa. We've been on some pretty bouncy roads and things seem to rumba and tango away if not strapped. Just MHO.
