Service call on a rooftop unit this morning...
Quick trip from Branson to K.C. on the Country Club Plaza, repaired unit, they shelled the bearings, music was so loud, they only shut the unit down when it filled the club full of foul smelling smoke. I had to make a special wheel puller to get the pulley off, real tight in there. Then, back to Branson.
It is a night club, very hotsy totsy, probably wouldn't let me in.......
My longest service call

OZZ: If and when the occasion arises, the next tech will be soooooooooooo happy you installed the taper loc pulley instead of the stock pulley. Remove the 3 bolts ... use them in the pusher hole position and it's loose. If you still can't slide the inner hub off, drive a screwdriver in the split and it's outta there. Couldn't resist a mechanical appraisal of your service call ... Ha!

Sharp observation, that is all I will install.
The unit was a Goodman, El cheapo.
I had to rebuild and adapt a puller from a fan blade puller, took 30 minutes of drilling and refitting, because of the close tolerances in the cabinet, it took a special tool.

You need to share some experiences climbing over freezers in resturants with all the nasty's to repair the compressor's...the life of a HVAC tech is not all fun. How's that truck and what the heck broke again??

Well, the truck is back along side the Monte, I just fired off a letter to an attorney, we will see......
The high pressure oil line fitting failed, there is a TSB on the repair for this, it is a kit that secures the fitting to the line. Evidently, this is common as dirt on the Ford Diesel.
Of course, they did not tell me this could and probably would happen, and it did, in the worst possible place and time.
Grrrrrrr.............

Ozz, Was this the TSB?
2005-07 F-SuperDuty/Excursion No-Start, High Pressure Oil System Leak:
Some trucks may develop an oil leak at the high pressure oil pump outlet fitting. This will cause a no-start condition as the computer needs to see at least 500 PSI before it will activate the injectors. In some cases the no-start will be intermittent and/or an intermittent stall with no codes will occur. If high pressure oil leak diagnosis indicates a leak at the pump, the pump outlet fitting (W301727) and the discharge tube block should be replaced with fitting and bracket kit 4C3Z-9B246-A. Do not torque the outlet fitting beyond 38 ft/lbs. If the leak is traced to the branch tube running through the engine block, replace with P/N 5C3Z9J332-B (requires removal of the transmission, flywheel and rear engine cover; new flywheel bolts required). TSB 06-14-6.
The following bulletin may be related:
Metal Tapping Noise from Rear of Engine:
Excursions built after 1-10-05 and 2005/06 F-SuperDuty may have a metal tapping noise from the rear of the engine on decel or light acceleration, or under loads when the high oil pressure is at higher levels. This may be due to a damaged/improperly fitting HP oil pump output quick connect fitting. To diagnose, you will need a scan tool with active command capability. Command the IRP duty cycle to 45% and listen at the high pressure oil pump cover with a stethescope as the engine speed is increased to 2800 RPM. If the noise is louder on the pump cover than on other parts of the engine, the pump cover will need to come off to inspect and replace the fitting. Broadcast Message 5511.
