Ye-ha! got to Van Horn Texas!!!!!
Man, what a great drive, wind at our backs, (Very stiff wind), Sun not in our eyes, no one ran us off the road..except a Horse trailer and semi driven by the U.S. Army First Cav. pulled in front of us on an on ramp at....Road Forks New Mexico, yes, Road Forks-not fork in the road, anyway, I had to lock up the rig, he swerved onto the shoulder, but I got slow enough for him to pull in front. I guess they don't teach them to look to see if they fit into the traffic.
We saw them down the road, they passed us and waved, probably felt bad. I shall send the government a bill for the new shorts.
They were out of Burglers at the KOA Kafe here in Van Horn, had to have Chicken strips and crispy French Fries-yummy, am tasting them again, every few minutes....
Will head to San Antonio, or somewhere around there tomorrow.
See Ya!

Ozz, watch out for those turkeys flying across the freeway in the hill country - we almost bagged 2 through there! What a let down about the burgers - always another trip.
Safe travels.

Ozz,
Looking at this, I started to wonder.
Replies are going south (-1) because you are, too?
Keep on having fun!

Ozz,
Watch out for the deer in that area too - we saw dead deer all along the freeways.
Where did you stay in Van Horn - we stayed at the Eagles Nest RV Park last fall and it was a nice park - and their daughter even bathed all the dogs for us for a decent price.

Laura, we stayed at KOA there pretty nice. I started counting dead deer, antelope, coyotes, and stopped at around 50, at any stretch of road, there would be 5 or 6 within sight, it was amazing. Sue and I were calling I-10 'Road Kill Highway'. We would see herds of 30 or so in the woods, draws and fields, across the 400 odd miles to our present location at Boerne, Texas. It's outside of San Antonio. We will go around the loop tomorrow, Sunday.
We will go on to Sanddollar RV resort in Rockport, for 4 days or so, then on to South Padre Island and the Destination South Padre RV resort.
Sue was trying to figure how to get the horses out of the trailer when we stopped to fuel up in the foothills….
We saw the hundreds of wind generators on the bluffs, and a whole lot of nuttin!
The Ford was a pulling machine, just sailed along. I had a built in speed monitor, when I eased up to around 68 or so, my coffee cup in the center console started shaking a little, so I put her back on cruise control. Long boring trip, but went the fast way to get it over with.

Ozz,
What did you use to attach the PVC pipe under your rig? Was that for a ladder or your sewer hoses?

Yup, that's my memory of Texas. You will have to come to Calif. and see our wind generators.
Happy trails.....................

I use a 6" tube for the 7' collapsible ladder, and a 4" tube for the sewer hoses. 1/4" allthread secures the tubes.
See http://s112.photobucket.com/albums/n...3/Ozzsmods101/ for some pictures.

Ozz, you shoulda taken US 90 instead of I-10. Much more relaxing and better scenery, although still some stretches of not much.
I got a door like the sewer hose door on the back corner of our 3400 and put it on the other side, same location. Now I have two of those sewer lockers! The sewer hose door is actually the door they used to use for the oustide shower. That's what you ask for. It even says something about shower on the inside of the door in the fine print.

Steve, I compare the drive to a pulling of a tooth, the quicker it's over, the better. I am spending the extra time I would have used on 90, sitting next to the beach here in Rockport.
Good Mod on the extra door, may as well use that space.
