Hunter Programmable Thermostat
I happened to have a Hunter 44150A laying around from a recent A/C upgrade to the stick house. After a bit of research on the Hunter fan site, I followed the instructions for the 42995B linked to from this site. Bingo! It works like a champ! BTW, the hi fan speed wire was not hooked up on the Duo Therm thermostat. Upon calling Montana, they say there are no single speed fans, and it was apparently an oversite. Oh well, hope that's the worst oversite they made.

SlickWillie,
Were you able to retain the 2-speed fan for the AC? I bought a 42999B a while ago, but never put it in because it wouldn't accept the 2 speed AC. I need the extra air flow when it's hot, but it's nice to go to low speed to reduce noise.

No, that is one thing I may address later on if need be. Perhaps a small switch mounted in the side of the thermostat. I just tied the orange and blue wires together, giving only high speed. Last night it was in the mid twenties, and I was very dissatisfied with the Duo-Therm thermostat. Once the furnace came on, then immediately cut back off. Another time, it was very cold in the RV before it came on. I was awake most of the night anticipating another malfunction.

That was my thought - adding another switch to the thermostat or next to it. The only digital I could find with the 2-speed switch was over $100. I decided rather than replace the thermostat - I would replace the Monty .
All this air conditioning talk is making me jealous sitting here in the snow

Hi guys,
I added a programmable to our rig last year and it works great. I followed the example in the attached link and added a small toggle switch, as outlined in step 3, to give me HI and LOW fan speeds for the A/C. http://www.geocities.com/fulltimedre...m_upgrade.html
Take care,
Jack

Somewhere on this forum is the instructions and pictures for adding a switch for the AC fan. I looked but I don't have it on this laptop or I'd post it.

That's the link I got the info from. I don't want to mount a switch of the wall. I may look at mounting a small switch (something like mounts on circuit boards) in the side or bottom of the thermostat. In fact, I may have my son take a look at it, as his hands are a lot steadier than mine. Another approach I may look at is using the current fan auto/on switch if it can be isolated and jumpered. I don't care to ever run just the A/C fan anyway.

Will,
That's a good idea...let me know if it works out. I too really don't have a need to ever run just the A/C fan.

Here's a link to the "original" instructions that I used. I opted to use a longer toggle switch and put it above the thermostat similar to what's shown.

I used these instructions and instead of putting the switch in the wall I put it in the right side of the thermostat. Switch up for high and down for low.
