Tilting Table Top

When the slides are in on our 3075, there is not enough space between the table and kitchen cabinets to get by. I got tired of climbing over the table and chairs and didn't want to put the slide out for access to kitchen area.
I removed the screws that attached the table top to the table base and installed a 3 1/2"x3 1/2" hinge on one side and a surface bolt on the opposite side. Now when the sildes are in, we have plenty of room to get by the table.

That is a GREAT idea, and I know what my next project is. Thanks nailbender. Just a guess, but from your handle, I take it you are a carpenter, or framer?

Thanks Lonnie. I have been a general contractor for 31 years. If you do this project, leave a couple of screws in the top until the hinge is installed, then remove them. The top is quite heavy.

Great idea Nailbender! and great contribution! That was one of the down sides to the 3075 we noticed- but looks like you came up with a fix!

That's a great Idea. Thanks for the post. Does it seem quite stable for traveling when tilted up like that? Sure gives lots of room to get by.

What a great idea. Maybe Montana will adapt it for those trailer design with the table in the middle of the unit.

A great idea. Did you remove 2 of the chairs or do you put them someplace else. We use the storage in our chairs and I don't want to give them up.
Happy trails........................

When traveling I strap the table and 2 chairs together. The table would be too wobbly not to secure it. I store 2 chairs upside down on the couch, all straped together.
Thank you all very much for the nice compliments.

nailbender, This is an awsome idea, especially for our 3000RK. I am getting tired of climbing over the table! I'm assuming (something I know I should never do but always do) that the only time you would tilt it would be to get by easily when the slides are in? I mean it doesn't travel down the road like that, right? I'm gonna have to get Dano on this project! Thanks for your great idea!!

We have taken 2 trips so far with the table tilted while traveling. I put a pad around the table base, table top, and chair legs and strap everything together. The table base is still attachen to the floor, so everything is solid when strapped together. So far so good, no scratches or damage.

That is the first thing I did when purchased my new 336RLT as I couldn't get by the table to reach the back. Actually, it was my wife's idea on the tilt option, and I added another option to the table at the same time. I made the table top to slide from side to side in order to allow more room on one side or the other if needed. I am not that big but the extra room is nice if you're sitting at the table for longer than a meal.

Giddyup!

Do you leave the table tilted while traveling? Just wondering if the pedistal is strong enough to handle the stress.
