New member - new RV - new lifestyle!
We have just purchased a new 2003 Mountaineer 315rls travel trailer. We will not take delivery until January - worst weather time in Canada - but our current vehicle (Jeep Grand Cherokee) will certainly not pull it but the lease expires in January. Hence the delay. Now we have to find the right vehicle for our change of lifestyle. We were lucky enough to part exchange our 20 foot boat as our use of the boat has been far too limited. We need more time away in short chunks but do not wish to pay the exorbitant rates for decent hotels. So RVing here we come.
Decision time now on the vehicle - best bets so far seem to be the GMC Yukon XL 2500 or the Dodge Ram 2500 with 5.9 Diesel. Both would be purchased new. Inclination is to go with the truck due to Grandchildren's "stuff" which I am sure will be going with us. Any advice would be welcome.
Enough on that - we live in Ontario Canada with a very spoilt Shih Tzu who will not want to be left home. We intend to start short trips of 2/3 nights in May 2004 so any advice on sites with good service within 200 miles of Toronto would be welcome.
Although we have been out of RVing for 20 years we are well used to the lifestyle and the practicalities of towing etc. Colin was "educated" in the Caravan Club in England who used to be very hot on the skills needed - even to running competitions for trailer handling.
If I have rattled on too long I apologise, maybe it is just a sense of the excitement of finding what looks like an excellent Travel Trailer and, of course, the added interest of this forum.
