Yellowstone and Grand Tetons Campgrounds
We are planning a September visit to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. Does anyone have any campground recommendations? We are thinking abour Fish Bridge RV Campground in Y-stone and Colter Bay in GT. I plan on staying in or near each park--that is while touring Y-Stone, I will stay in the park or near by. After Y-Stone I will move to GT. We will be arriving from the direction of Salt Lake City.

We spent a week at fishing bridge cg last year. We may have been able to stay a little cheaper out of the park we saved ourselves a lot of driving time by being in the park. The sites are not overly large but they are large enough and besides we spent very little time at the cg anyway.

We just spent several days at Grizzly RV park in West Yellowstone. Very nice park and very close to the west entrance to Yellowstone. Met AnnB from Florida there. She says she only reads, doesn't post but it was neat to meet another MOCer.
Happy trails..................

Second the recommendation for Grizzly. Pricey, but in line with others in the area, and very nice. I stayed at the campground at Fishing Bridge a few years ago, and it was so cramped that our neighbor had to ask us to retract our slide so he could unhook.
Wouldn't stay there again.

Grizzly....as stated, $$, but a very nice place, and the $$ is in line with what's available vs the facility.
Bes sure to take in the Wolf and Grizzly Preserve while in W. Yellowstone..very interesting place.

I agree about the Preserve PJ. We spent all afternoon there and didn't really want to leave but it started raining - really hard. Montana has the biggest rain drops I've ever seen. The wolves put on a real howling show for us.
Happy trails...........................

We stayed at fishing bridge last year and I agree it is very cramped. We won't stay there again either.

We stayed at Red Rock CG out at Island Park, ID. But it's 23 miles to the entrance at West Yellowstone. With current diesel prices we'd probably stay next time at Fishing Bridge. Yellowstone is a huge park, many miles of driving to see it all. Fishing Bridge's location just makes a lot of sense to me. It's not a fancy park but has what we'd need. And it is most convenient.
