Trailer Life had a article about the air foils. The article stated the deflectors served no useful purpose when towing a trailer. I had an experience transporting a new Cougar 5vr from Indiana to Colorado. The nose had V shaped groves, wide on top narrow at the bottom, on each side. In the middle of the low end of the groves on each side were two lights. In the middle of the lights there was a mirror. It was beautiful hitching up you can see your hitch in the mirror ,did not have a chance to use the lights. The groves were another story. Some where in Iowa in head wind two fold up chairs in bags and three one gallon jugs of water were blown out of the pickup bed along with any dust or dirt. I thought the lights and mirror were a great idea but the V groves are not,I burned some extra diesel. Front caps make all the difference.
