Holiday World RV ~ WARNING

Hello All,
HOLIDAY WORLD DOES NOT HONOR THEIR SALES PRICE ON OUR CONTRACT.
Just wanted to give a heads-ups to everyone and those you might know who are looking to order an RV.
We ordered a 5er from Holiday World at the end of March 2021. We waited 4 months with the excitement growing every day. NOT one time during the 4 month wait did anyone at Holiday World call us with an update of any kind proactively. Then I got word my unit would be delivered the last part of July. A few days before we were scheduled to pick it up I got my first proactive call from Holiday World. Unfortunately it was call from the sales manager telling me that the price was going to be raised regardless of the contract we had about $10,000! No calls for 4 months and then this. I asked to speak with a supervisor who gave me the same song and dance, pay $10,000 more than we agreed to or we will refund your deposit and you can get lost. I asked to speak to another level up the food chain and after a few days the OWNER called. He agreed we had a contract but basically said take it or leave it. HE didn't care. Buy it or take a hike.
We were over a barrel, having sold our house and needing to move into our 5er (or live with my kids). We felt we had no good choice and moved forward with the purchase. We did take a whole weekend and tried to find a comparable 5er just to walk away but none were available.
BOTTOM LINE ~ DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HOLIDAY WORLD!!

Good to let others know. Sometimes that's all you can do.

We had something similar happen with our previous RV. Drove all the way from FL to Forest City Iowa to pick up our special order Winnebago View. The deal was $10,000 down with financing all done. Sat down to sign papers and they said... "oh by the way we're going to need another $4,000 down". Fortunately we had it.

Hopefully Karma is a thing, they got theirs, and your dealer will too.

Used our own credit union to buy our Montana. We'll never use "dealer financing" for anything ever again.

This is not the first, or the last, price increase. Here is a Thread from April with the same issue. Be sure to watch the video in Post #26

I would turn them in if the contract didn't have a provision for such an increase.

It didn't and they said "sue us"! Of course I still wouldn't have an RV to live in for months maybe years.

Read the contract. Is there a clause in it that allows them to increase the price?

You didn't say which location, but I know the Holiday World in Mesquite, TX often gets bad reviews for their customer service and business practices.

Don't know that it would help, but you might file a complaint with Keystone about their business practices.

I would have rented a place to live while I ordered something better and that's not that hard to do. Montana fivers aren's what they used to be by a long shot.

Not an RV but this sounds interesting. Might be worth your while to let a lawyer take a look at your original contract.

I agree but would have rented a place while I spoke with an attorney.....Places like this will just keep pulling these bad business practices until they get their hands slapped hard enough to make it not worth doing.

Seems like Keystone could step in and help with this - unless they demanded more cash from the dealer. This dealer is really soiling the Keystone brand (of course that may not matter to either party). Is this the result of supply and demand at the sales end - so few units to choose from causes the price to go up? Or is it the result of escalating material cost to the factory that started in late March? I’m curious. Either way it feels like unscrupulous low-life practices. I think the attorney approach is a good one.

You might consider posting your story to the Keystone Owners Forum as Holiday World sells lots of Keystone units other than Montanas to folks participating there. You are performing a good service sharing this information.

I would oblige them on that one. If you bought it under duress since it was going to be your home you should get some relief. At least an out of court settlement.

Thanks for sharing. Those folks are bad news and what they did should be posted on every social media outlet there is.

I feel your pain, but all dealers and manufactures suck. It's a good thing we all love to RV. The folks in this club know more and do better work than any manufacturer or dealer. It's a shame we can't buy a facility someplace were we could help each other fix stuff properly. Keystone would sure panic.
