Mattress
Does anyone have any suggestions on a replacement mattress? Linda has lupus which makes it very difficult for her to sleep on the mattress that came with our 2002 2850RK. She compares it to sleeping on a board. I've seen many different ones and they are all expensive. Just looking for comments before I make the plunge.

We put an "egg crate" foam mattress from Walmart, under $40. on top of the original mattress, made all the difference for a good nights sleep.

Has anyone put a Comfort Select air mattress in their unit? Still have ours from the stick house.

We went with the Sleep Number which comes in the short Queen (75x80?) size to fit our Mountaineer. Cheryl likes her mattress much softer thank I do. This has worked perfectly for us.

We replaced the mattress in our prior unit. The day we picked up our Montana we moved that mattress from our old unit and left the Montana mattress in our old Jayco. We purchased at a mattress as stated it is a short Queen.

We also got an egg crate from Walmart... just as comfy as the one at home I paid $90 for. You can cut the crate to size.

We tried the egg crate, she didn't like that. Then we got a memory foam mattress pad and that is better but still not happy.

Hopefully you will find an affordable solution. If you have to get a better mattress, possibly it could be deductible on your income tax since it is truly for health reasons. What about one of those feather pillow tops? I see them at the bed/bath stores - have you tried something like that???

My husband did not like the egg crate mattress, said it made him hot. Well, I put it under the mattress (didn't have a place to put it otherwise and didn't want to throw it in the dumpster). The next thing he told me the mattress sure seemed to be better, couldn't figure out why it should have changed. (it is my secret and since he doesn't change the sheets he may not find out for a long time) Anyway you might try that and see what you think.

We bought a memory foam mattress topper for our trailer and we liked it so much we bought one for the stick house as well. Bought them at Costco for about $100 Cdn each.

we purchased a memory foam mattress for our Mountaineer and then transferred it to the Montana. It cost a lot but is well worth it.

We purchased a Simmons Beautyrest mattress, a non-flip pillow top model, and we just love it! Had one at home and needed the same thing when we rv. Our's is the regular Queen size and when the bedroom slide is in it butts up against the dresser nicely. I would suugest going with the same matt that works for your wife at home!!!

We have a feather tick underneath us. Wouldn't be without it.

I moved the plywood sheet under the matress away from the head board about 4" and put a board in to fill the space and replaced the original with a standard queen. We try to remember to lift the matress at the foot end when bringing in the slides but it closes with the matressleft down. The only bad thing is when you decide to flip the matress it is quite difficult.

Gray and Linda. My wife also has Lupis and we installed the memory foam topper I believe 3 or 4 inches thick. She now has no problems. Good luck.

We installed a memory foam topper I think it's about 2 inches thick, it's alot better but still not quite what she needs. I found a place called Jonathan Stevens that has the type of mattress she wants so I think that is probably what we will do. It looked to me like I could put in a standard size queen and from I read it looks many of you have done that. Thanks for all the help.

The egg crate mattress works wonders for us both in the Montana and at home. Our first trip this mid 60's body woke up sore and stiff, especially in the hip area. The addition of the egg crate mattess stopped that and now it's just the normal stiffness and pain of being mid 60's!
