Have purchased 2006 Montana 3400rl. It appears that the inverter is bad. Where is it located. Thanks Phil

Our 3400rl has a converter, not an inverter.I believe it's above the toilet behind the fuse panel. Ours is newer so the location may be differnt than yours.

If you describe your symptoms, hickory probably has it right. It's probably the converter (converts the incoming AC to DC for recharging the batteries which run everything 12v).
An inverter takes the output of (a) 12v batter(ies) and inverts the 12v to 110v. Since you have a 2006 maybe it has one of these installed after market so you can gain 110v usage when boondocking and not connected to a 110v power pole.
Welcome to the forum and I see from your profile you are an electrician, so my apologies if I talk about this too much, but converters and inverters have been known to confuse many.
What are the symptoms you are seeing? For example, if the converter is bad or going bad, you'll experience difficulty with the batteries staying charged or using the 12v devices don't work so good (like landing gear or slideouts or lighting). Otherwise if it is an inverter, these are typically installed by someone after the rig was manufacturer and these could be put almost anywhere by the installer or dealer.

On our previous Montana, a 2008 3400RL, the converter was under the stairs to bedroom.

It is a good ideal to carry with you a 10 amp charger just in case your converter goes out.Mine went out on a Saturday in Cody Wy. and i called a mobile repair guy and he was out elk hunting. He told me to hook up my charger and put it on 10 amp and he would see me Monday. Everything worked great through the weekend.

Most 5th wheels have converter/chargers. Most motor homes have inverter/chargers.

There are a couple of fuses that protect the converter from hooking the battery up backwards ... check those. They are blade fuses right on the converter.
