Has it ever worked?
Most?all? water heaters have a switch on the heater itself, is this on? Is there a switch inside the rig, is it on? Check the fuse panel too.

Does the propane side work? It would also be helpful if you would add year and model of your Montana to your signature.

Mine also has a reset button at the heater. You did not indicate age, the electric heater elements don't last forever, not hard to replace, they do last longer if the tank is flushed a couple of times a year.

From previous posts there have been at least four things for that. Bad heating element. Bad switch on the water heater. Bad thermostat/hi temp cutout. Loose neutral wire in box on back of water heater. Process of elimination.

If a dealer has worked on it, changing the anode rod for instance, they will turn the little black switch in the water heater compartment off so that the heater can't be turned on electric with no water in the tank.

We just recently started to have problems with our water heater when on electric. Our unit is just over 2 years old and have never had a problem. Flip the switch on the unit and hot water in about 30 minutes. Lately we will turn on the hot water tap and the water is Luke warm at best. Go outside and flip the on/off switch, nothing. Leave it off for awhile flip it back on and I can hear the element working and have hot water again. Then it works fine for awhile. This has now happened 3-4 times. Not sure what the problem is.

You can replace the black switch (just pops out with a screwdriver) and the heating element (unscrews from the tank - good YouTube videos available) for less than $50 in parts. Both of those will go bad over time.

I'm sorry it is 2011 3625re. And the electric has worked before just not now. Gas works fine.

Maybe had the water heater by-pass on and never actually filled the tank. Turning the electric on with no water will burn out the element.
Brain fart, senior moment, what ever you want to call it, it happens.

I'm with Jerry on this one. Have you ever turned on the water heater and not had any water in it or did the dealer so this possibly? If so, the heating element burns out within about 5-8 seconds if it does not have water around it. This could very likely be the problem. I did have a problem with mine last year down in AZ. We checked everything and finally found out we had a loose connection on the wiring going to the switch in the water heater compartment itself. I worked fine on gas but nothing on electric. The dealer had it and traced it down to the loose connection. Simple fix but it cost me the price of an hours labor at the dealer because none of us could find the problem. We used meters and all on it too!
Simple things that drive you crazy!

If the problem water heater is in a 2011 rig, pop off the rubber button cover of the 120 volt reset button, and if the button itself is red instead of gray, it is likely the problem. Suburban had a bad batch of the thermostat/reset units from a vendor that were defective, and they were made with red buttons. Our 2012 had one with the red button that failed, and it hasn't failed since replacement three years ago.
