Need some input please
I have read the numerous posts and had planned to change tires out. I look at them before and after getting on the road.
This developed after a 52 mile trip.
Looks like I am not waiting any longer. The question is how much of a risk do I run driving the 52 miles back home? There may not be a definitive answer....
Is there anyone who has been in this situation?
Eric

Why not use your spare for the return trip. I, personally, would not chance a mile on that tire.

Looks like separation. Agree with posts above, I would change it out with the spare.

Yep use the spare unless there is a tire store VERY CLOSE by. Then get 4 new LT tires.

A bubble on the side does not bother me nearly as much as one on the tread. But I would also put the spare on just in case. Especially since it looks like there may be another bubble starting just below the DOT.

I would also crawl under the rig and look at the inside of the tires. Frequently folks who had one like that have had another.

Great.... didn't notice the second little one near the DOT. Thank you everyone. It pays to pay attention to things. I have an extended warranty, however I don't want to use it to replace the side of my rig. UGH!

One correction, you probably have a 'service contract" that was sold to you using the thought "do you want to get the extended warranty"? It is only $xxx a month.
Your "service contract" does not cover tire caused damage. If it does, I stand corrected. Your comprehensive coverage should cover it tho.

We have, with the extended warranty, coverage for 5 years (3.5 left) on the tires on the trailer AND the tow vehicle. I didn't remember the TV being included, but it is. The contract is right in front of me.
Now if I could get them to come out to the campground and change it out. I don't know if they'll do that. I have Roadside assistance too.... hmmm....

So I dug a bit further, and three out of four tires have raised areas or a bubble. CAllen the claim center and was approved for replacement.

Use the spare as others if noted. Ounce of prevention will prevent a heartbreak on the wallet!

I was forced to pull a camper almost 40 miles on a ST tire after I had a blowout and a bubble on almost as big as a football on one of the other 3 tires. So you MAY get buy but I would not advise it. I would use the spare and would definitely get rid of the ST tires. This has happened to you once and will definitely happen again. Although you got lucky this time the next time you will most likely do much damage to your camper.

We had a similar problem and Good Sam came out and changed it for the spare, I waited an hour and a half and it took them 20 minutes to change it. Not bad but bought 5 new G614s the next day.

We left home (Terrell,Tx) Friday morning starting our 3k mile/6 week trip to Indiana. Had the trailer tires pulled, inspected and balanced two weeks ago at Discount Tires. 35 miles into our trip
Had a blow out. The road side service came in 30 minutes and replaced with the spare which had not been on the ground since mounted in April, 2011. He noticed the dry rot on all three other tires and said he would not drive a 100 miles on them. ? Why did Discount tires not see this??
Drove 20 miles to our weekend camp spot and call the local discount tires to see if they could get 5 - G614s for us. So we go Tuesday morning to have mounted and will continue our trip east & north.

Will the good years fit on the existing 16" rims or do they need to be replaced too?

Yes they will. There will be cast into the inside of one of the spokes 3750 lbs and 110 psi, which is what makes them work
