I think I got it, right?? Mountaineer question
Dear friends of ours are considering a Mountaineer TT. She has a form of MS and feels that she cannot handle the stairs in a 5er.
Anyway, the question is, and I think I know the answer, but thought I would check with Mountaineer owners to be sure, as the answer is important to our friends.
IS, Gelcoat available on the Mountaineer TT's??
Don't see it anywhere, but figured I might have missed it??
Thanks
Carol

It is listed in the diagram that shows the construction of the trailer as "gel coated filon". Very small print by the way...
Hope this helps!

I don't think it is an option. I know it wasn't a while ago, but heck Keystone is constantly upgrading things in their models. We all know they make changes mid model year too, so maybe they are going to offer it?

Ours has it and it is standard. The "High Gloss" is not an option. The description is the same as the Montana in the construction diagrams, "gel coated filon".

Patty,
Not according to dealer, they stopped by on Saturday and talked to dealer, asked us, cause they trust us more than the dealer! Told ya they were good friends!
But you are right, they should keep checking the specs, mid year, running changes are something else! As we all know from our chats here at MOC!

Hi Folks. I,ll second the observation on the "gel coat" sides. On the subject of the Mountaineer TT vs. a 5er - we also suffer from poor knee problems and made the choice of the TT because of all the ups and downs of the 5ers. We very much enjoy our '04 305FKS and look forward to much more road time after this year's retirement. Happy RV'ing to all.

We had a Mountaineer Travel Travel which we exchanged for a Montana 3400. I have had knee replacement but I am finding the Montana easier as the steps are closer to the ground. I do not have to go to the bedroom level that often but find the steps no problem.

We added an assist handle (like the one inside by the front door) by the steps to the bedroom. You can reach it whether going up or down and it really makes the steps upstairs easier.

I believe the only gelcoat is on the front cap and the sides are just fiberglass. At least that was what was available for us in 04.

While looking at the fifthwheels I thought the steps were not as steep as in some other brand units. I thought they would be easier on the knees, IMO.

Thanks every one for your feedback.
If it were just a matter of knees, my friend might consider a 5th, it is not that simple, of course, what ever is simple?? She has a form of MS, and sometimes she falls, for no apparent reason, other than she has this nasty MS.
Oh, then there is the matter of the pole barn that is not tall enough for a 5er. Don't even get me started on that one! HA HA.
Again, thanks for the feedback!
