Fresh water tank fill
This will be the first time I de-winterize our new '16 Monte. With our older one we had a fresh water tank fill spout to manually put water in the tank. We used the feature to put some bleach in the tank and top off with fresh water. Than I would use the pump to fill the lines for sanitizing. With out the external fresh water fill how do you fill and sanitize your lines?

We just pour our bleach into the water hose, connect to water and fill the fresh water tank and proceed as you do.

I have an inline filter. I remove the cartridge and add a little bleach and water. Bleach is very corrosive, and hard on brass fittings if not diluted

So here's a follow up. How would you add water to your fresh water tank if boondocking?

Per the manual, you should have a tank vent for the fresh water system, mine is towards the back of the rig. it said to remove the cap and screen, and add bleach there with a funnel. SO I tried it, works great the vent cap should slide right up, remove the screen, and there is a hole that leads straight into the fresh water tank.

You could use the over flow to add water or cleaners manually. The overflow on our 2016 is near the rear bumper, I think its over the actual tank. It was a plastic cap of sorts and you can slide up just a bit and it comes off. Underneath that plastic cap ours has a spout about the size of a water hose, there is a strainer in it that pops out with your finger. I found this when I over filled the freshwater tank and then while gently messing with the plastic cover piece I found it slide up and off exposing the actual water outlet, I thought, wow, this would be an easy place to either fill the tank manually or to add stuff. I've not tried it but I don't see why it wouldn't work, I saw no signs of a back flow valve etc.

Hi Dick,
Here's another option to put water in your fresh water tank when boondocking. This works but is a little slow, I can fill about 3 gals/minute doing this: (at least for our 3160 setup)
Connect water container with short hose to winterizing input
Flip winterizing valve to winterize
Connect outside shower hose to city water input
Flip city water valve to fill tank
Turn on water pump
Turn on cold water at outside shower
Pump until container is empty
Repeat as needed
disconnect all hoses
return all valves to normal position
If you put a bleach solution in the water container, this method can also be used to pump bleach/disinfectant into the fresh water tank.

Thx Dave. I was also able to remove the cover over the over flow opening. I think I'll try both methods just for the experience. Thx to all.

Are you sure you don't have both the Power Fill valve in the convenience center and a manual fill port somewhere on the Monty behind a lockable dedicated small door? My 2012 3585SA has both and makes it really nice.
