Receiver hitch for front of truck
We are wanting to haul our scooter(200 lb. Ruckus) with us this year and have noticed a few members have added a front receiver to their truck. We currently haul two pedal bikes as well in the truck box behind the aux. fuel tank.
First of all which hitch did you use?
Second of all what type of basket/platform did your use, any clearance issues?
And lastly how do you secure your bicycle or scooter. I presume the wheels are lashed to the basket/platform in some way but also how do you fasten a ratchet type strap around the handlebars/seat and to what in the truck.
Any pics?
Thanks in advance all.

Hey Darwin you have seen my pic for a couple years now ..talk to the man with the plan my man I have been hauling my scooters for 4 years now on my Draw-tite front bolt on 2 inch Hitch www.draw-tite.com and then you can buy a carrier of your choice on www.discountramps.com with a built in ramp(cool) and they have adjustable side bolts in the carrier so the front and back wheels just fall down into the gap and they have hold down loops for straps to hold the scooter down and make sure the ramp includes a anti-wooble plate for the hitch(as most of them do) and also which you cannot see in my pic is I haul another scooter behind the cab sideways in the bed of my GMC it has 4 hooks in the bed for the motorcycle straps to hold that one in place and I made a wood ramp with a ramp "lip" i bought on E bay and unbolt my hitch and move it aside and roll the scooter up and down to load and unload EASY!!,I have been asked so many times on the road where I got the stuff to haul both Scooters and now you know Now get on that Bad motor scooter and ride and keep the rubber side down !!

Your ARE the man Jimmy and your pic always gets me to thinking!!! That's a lot of ramps on discount ramp site, is there one in particular that resembles what you have? Also I would be interested in a close up pic of how your's is strapped down and what is sufficiently required. Any problems with movement?
Yep, in another month we will get on that bad boy scooter for sure.

Here it is Darwin... http://www.discountramps.com/dirt-bi...ier/p/MX-600X/ and yes it is steady WITH the anti-wooble/tilt plate which comes with it which can see in one of the pics by the hitch pin, I have traveled with this setup for 4 years and thousands of miles with that 220lb 150cc scoot no problem and with another scooter in the bed,I would show ya pics of mine up close but both Scoots and carrier are in storage till we hit the road in May and also here is the front bolt on hitch you need http://www.draw-tite.com/products/trailer-hitches/front-mount-receiver/L3Sl4yNcOS2BSPFE!6aSeqaodBaMN5j5 and also you might get a better deal on them from Amazon/E bay and make sure when you travel with the scooter DO NOT put a cover on it or it will block airflow to the radiator..Hope this helps ya

I bought a Draw Tite for our 2006 F350. I was going to buy a Curt for a little less money, but some of the reviews had fitment problems and none with the Draw Tite. They did not offer a below the bumper hitch for my year truck, but if they do, you may want to look into that.
