Never heard of having too much power. That's what I like about my truck, 600+ HP and 1100 TK, love it.

Saw two techs remove the cab of a 08 F-350 while mine we in for service. It was off in about one hour. Our 08 6.4 has been a good truck. We have Ford do the maint as the scheduled. It is used to pull the Montama's 98% of the time. It is 8 years old with 75 800 miles on the diesel .We have had three problems with the truck, Leaking front and rear seal two years ago and his month the check engine light came on and we are informed it is a thermostat stuck wide open.
I had new truck fever, Got my Ford X plan pin number and priced what I would like but this truck has been great and is like new at 8 years old....I am still thinking.. Pin number is good till March 2017..
Trade in is 23/25K Retail 29/30 K. Have two friends at home who are local campers that want the truck bad .We shall see.
First "talk" we had with a dealer offered 30K in trade but we know how that goes.

Richfaa one thing to think about is the trade in you don't pay taxes on, so if you sell yours out right then use that to put down on the new one you pay taxes on that money.

I usually do just as well with a trade in to the dealer. I do my homework .I get quotes from several dealers. I have a bottom line price that I will pay. I have a perfectly good truck so I do not need a new one. Right now the Ford X plan has 4K of incentives besides the X plan price. My price is met or no truck it is that easy.
I do a build your own truck on the X plan website. I am not excited about a new truck but I like new stuff.

$30K is good if he is selling his at or near invoice. Not good if he is asking MSRP for his.
Around here, most dealers have a link to black book to let you get a trade-in value for your vehicle. Black book seems to be the standard for pricing vehicles locally. I did that on my previous truck and the returned value was $22k. When I went to talk trade, the dealer offered $16K. I reminded him about the black book link on his web site. But he also had his truck (which I did buy) listed on his web site for $14,000 off MSRP, which was well below invoice due to Ford rebate at the time plus the dealer discount. So he was trying to make up some of his discount. After twice starting for the door, I got the $14K off his plus the black book value for mine.
And yes, the not paying taxes on the trade-in value saved another $1,400 or so.

I happened to have my 350 in for something minor today and told my mechanic I heard it only took one hour to remove the cab. He's a Ford master whatever who branched out to his own shop and he told me closer to three hours unless you happened to do one or two a day. Even at $150/hr for labor x 6 hours (removal and replacement) the cab labor should only be $900.

In my state, makes no difference if you trade or sell yourself. The amount you get from the trade/sale of the old vehicle is deducted from the amount you paid for the new vehicle...and that is what you pay taxes on.

Rich something else to think about. The aluminum 2017 will soon be out. They will be lighter and offer more payload and towing capacity and I wouldn't doubt more power. No doubt an improvement over the 2016s. I have an aluminum 2015. They are an improvement.

The X plan pin is good through March 2017. I would be over GCWR if the Montana was loaded to capacity with the 08 ford. The GCWR of the 2008 is 23,500.The truck weighs 9,000 lbs ready to tow and the GVW of the 13 Montana is 15,830lbs.I am a bit over GCWR at the last weigh in at 14,850 lbs...but... I have waited a long time to say this...... it pulls it fine.
