Plastic wheel fenders coming off
I read a forum on rv.net (I think) the other day and a women said they were driving on a freeway and her plastic fender flew off. Well prior to reading this,I was looking over my new rig and noticed they used sheet metal screws to attach the fenders and upon further insp. I noticed a lot of them were loose and had double holes. So I decided to fix THIS, and went and bought machine screws and fiber lock nuts,they will never come off. Ive been a technician/mechanic since dad taught me to turn a wrench at the age of ten. Anyway as I keep going over my new toy,I am finding these little nuances. We love our new coach, but I would think Keystone would do a little better job. FYI, I also found a small ripple on a slide out lower sheet metal panel and a splintered wood support under the bed. I hope this helps someone not loose there fender

You are ahead of the game. I've stopped along the highway to secure a fender (or two) with nuts and bolts after seeing it come loose.

A very common problem, we used spring (speed) nuts on the back of the screws and have not had a problem. Our screws were painted with the rig and I did not want to have to try to match the paint.

Took Bingo's advice. Easy fix and works great. It's the way to go if you want the paint to match.

I had the loose screws, even had some with speed nuts on them.. I had the wheels balanced and that really reduced the loose screw problem. I knew that there had to be a frame/suspension problem, or wheel balance problem. Bill

Mine flapped in the 70 MPH breeze so I made new brackets. My camper like most came with little pieces of hand bent aluminum for brackets to keep the skirts from flapping. They didn't do the job so I made some using 1/4 X 1 inch aluminum, no more flapping.

Some friends of mine tightened all the sheet meta screws and then put some silicone on the back side where the threads are. Solved the problem of the screws backing out.

Had the problem with screws coming loose. Tried locktite and tightened screws up tight. Bad move. The plastic around the screw hole cracked and broke. So I fiberglassed it nice and solid. Guess what - the next hole over did the same thing. If you notice, the fender opening where the screws go is recessed, but is about 1/4-1/2 inch away from the slide out where the fender goes. So if you tighten the screw, it puts pressure on the plastic and breaks. Guess I will fiberglass the next one and maybe put some spacer washers behind it. It is still under warranty but I am on the road and warranty expires in about 4 1/2 weeks. If 2nd patch doesn't work, I will try warranty.

I also took a tube of silicone caulking cut the end of the spout off, placed it over the screws on the back and filled the threads with the caulking. No more loose screws and no more sharp screws to get caught on!

We used the spring nuts like Bingo and also silicone on the backside. No more loose screws. There is sometimes a loose nut behind the steering wheel though

I did the same thing as Bingo and used spring nuts the first day we brought our rig home. It cost about $3 in parts and 10 minutes of time.
