I 40 through Oklahoma
Is there any interesting stops along I 40 in Oklahoma or any good overnight stops of interest?

In Oklahoma City The federal building bombing site is a very "moving" site and there is the National Cowboy and western history museum

Hi
We visited the federal building memorial in 2010 it is something worth going to. Unfortunately we stayed at so many RV parks during our 7 month tour of the west that we don’t remember that one.

I agree with both of these. Both are worth the visit.
We stayed at the KOA about 3 miles east of OKC on I-40 several years ago and would stay there again if/when we return.

While not interesting in and of itself, we stayed at the Lucky Star Casino 12 miles off i40 on US81. Free overnight with full hookups and the one arm bandit gave me $300 for staying there that certainly made it an interesting stop.

If you want to get through OK, Amarillo has several good CGs.

Some campgrounds on the west side of OKC. The Memorial in down town OKC is a must stop at. The old brick town east of down town is a great place to wander and eat. The Cowboy museum on the north side of OKC is full of western history.
But, if there is one thing, the stop at the Federal Building Bombing is as moving as the World Trade Center in NYC. You need to plan on going twice. Once in the day time, go thru the museum and then come back at night and look at the lighted chairs along the reflecting pool. You will then understand why some of the chairs are a different size.
We lived there when it happened. We will never forget.

If you are coming through on Apr 11th - 12th, 2015, the Wanenmacher's Tulsa Gun Show is the largest show on earth.
Happy trails,

Jim,
We have stayed at Twin Fountains RV Park a couple of times. Pretty nice park not far from the Cowboy Museum. Jim

One thing to be aware of: Somewhere before you get to Tulsa you see a place where the road should go straight but it's blocked off and overgrown with weeds. Instead the road makes a jog to the left and then comes back to where the blocked off road should have gone. Unless they've fixed it recently that little stretch of interstate is the worst (biggest holes) stretch of interstate we've ever driven on.

Oklahoma is the worst state I have ever traveled through. The Highway patrols are really rednecks and I have been pulled over twice with out of state plates going under the speed limit .I haven't even got a warning or a ticket but I had my gps on the dash with my wife in the truck and told the cop we were watching the speed plus we had the cruise control on and he said I was two miles over the limit?!?! Then he said I should slow down next time. I don't look like a drug dealer and am very careful about my speed. It raises my blood pressure every time I see the Oklahoma state sign. I would avoid the state anytime I could.

We stayed at Will Rogers Downs KOA last fall. It is about 25 mi. NE of Tulsa at the race track. Big spaces, but pretty much a flat open parking lot. Good dinner at the track restaurant tho.
Was fun to watch the horses work out in the morning too.
