G614 swap
I did not want to hijack the previous thread because, I have a question.
For those of you who have switched from load range "E" tires to the G614's, did Keystone pay for or, a portion of to move up?
An inquiring mind wants to know. I think I may already know the answer.
Thanks.

Keystone did not do anything, the dealer on our last rig gave us a $500 credit for the Marathons and took the rims to Sam's Club for G614 installation. A good dealer at the time, but would not compete with CW on the current rig (primarily because of dishwasher installation).

Agree. Keystone will do nothing. Individual dealers might.

Goodyear gave me a deal when I called them and asked if something could be done now or should we wait till they have to pay for damages later. Others have done that also with very mixed results.

Any help you get will not come from Keystone.

My G614 option on the just new 2015 Montana Legacy was $1793 for 5 then the dealer discounted the option from the factory. Probably had about $1200 in them. Well worth every Dime.

mimf. really, you are asking if montana will pay for you upgrading your tires? no.
work out the best deal you can with your local tire store or rv center, you are on your own.

Eddie, really, the answer to that is no. I am only doing some research. Long story. You don't have time to listen and I don't have time to explain. But, I will say that it has to do with my current part time employment with that other huge RV manufacturer.
'Nuff said.

Keystone or any other RV trailer manufacturer could not possibly offer any compensation to replace OE tires with some other tire that has not been offered as an option on that particular trailer. Think about the snowballing repercussions of such an act.

Call Goodyear. We got an excellent trade allowance from them. Had to go to their store, but it was WELL worth it for us. We had a new Montana at the time and we had only towed it 50 miles since we bought it. We had to take it in for them to measure the tread and then they contacted Goodyear for the allowance. We got an unbelievable deal - $200 credit for EACH of the 5 Marathons. We traded to G614s for $800 total! Yes, that was for all 5. If you get a customer service rep that says "no." Try again later and see if you get a different one. It amazes me that some people get nothing and we got so much. The funny thing was that we tried to sell the Marathons for $50 each and got no takers. Hubby told me to try Goodyear and just see what they said. I sure was glad nobody wanted to buy them for the $50/ea.

We went from 614's to the h rated g114's. Didn't deal with goodyear. Sold them to another member at a more than fair price.
We both won and to me that was better than any $$ from goodyear.

I also got a much better than expected deal from Goodyear in a swap for my Marathons. It's worth looking into.

Are not the G14's now options on the Montana Legacy so why can they can not be a ordering option.. I can understand not switching them out IF they are already on the Montana on the dealer lot. Has anyone asked the question if the G614's can be ordered when you place your Montana order.???? Many buyers may not want to spend that extra money but those who do can have the option. It would not cost Keystone more to install them at the factory as they do anyhow. Might be something we do not know and a question that needs to be asked.

Absolutely an option on the Montana line but in this case I believe a Mountaineer that has already been delivered to the customer.

I was fairly sure they we a option on the Montana as we were told that at the fall rally. My guess is they would be a option if you were ordering the RV. Probably do not need them on the lighter models but it would not seem to be a big deal if ordering. It would not be an additional cost to keystone and they already install the tire at the factory.

We also contacted Goodyear. Had about 5000 miles on the Marathons. Had no problem with Goodyear and got half off the retail price of the Marathons. They had us take the Rv to Wingfoot Tires and they verified the tire tread to Goodyear and I think we got a fair price on the G614's. Very pleased with Wingfoot.

MIMF, check to see if your rims are rated to 110 psi (will be stamped on the rim). I know all Montana's come now with 110 psi rims, but I don't know the history on Mountaineer's. We just ordered our 3160 with G614's as an option. As stated above, list from Montana is $1793 or so less the discounted price. So, it's probably still cheaper to buy them elsewhere if you know you can trade your others in for a reasonable price.

I just upgraded to the G614 and was told by the dealer that I should only run them at 80 psi. I have a 2013 3402RL and thought this was unusual due to the loaded weight of the 5th. He said that the outside of the tire will wear if I run them at 100 psi. Am I out of my mind or does this sound backwards? In my mind overpressure would cause excessive wear on the center not the outside. What pressure does everyone run G614's at?

You are not out of your mind, your dealer is and obviously does not have the slightest idea of what he is talking about. There are two approaches which have been debated extensively here, run at max 110 psi or run at an appropriate pressure based on Goodyear's Load Inflation Table. We have a 3850FL, and I personally run the 614's at around 105 psi. By the weight table, I should be running at around 95-100 psi, so I upped it a little because of personal preference.
