Paducah heading south US Rt. 45
When heading from central Illinois to SW Florida we generally use I-57, I-24, I-65, US RT 231, I-10, I-75. Never really minded US RT 231 because most of it was really good pavement. The only heavy traffic on the first 2/3 of the while route was Nashville.
On another forum someone mentioned taking US RT 45 out of Paducah all the way down to Mobile, where you catch I-10. Looks like most of that route would be 4-lane divided. That would allow you to avoid Nashville and could even provide more choices of CG's, not sure.
Anyone ever taken that route with their fiver?

It is 170 miles farther than going thru Atlanta straight shot on I-75.

We have gone that way I65 to Montgomery Alabama get off at I85 east Atlanta to Eastern Blvd Exit turn right on to State road 8/53 Stay in the left lane the turn off is only about 3 miles down the road then to Us 231 through to Dothan Ala. to I10. Dothan is a little busy It has a spoke Business loop around the city so make sure you are in the correct lane when you get to the turn off (SEE GOOGLE MAPS)or you will miss it. this is the best way to go, been through it a few times and the I85 is easier than going through Mongomery to get to US 231. where in SW Florida are you going?. I'm in Naples full time.

Yep, that is how we have been going. Sounds like Rt. 45 out of Paducah would be too many added miles and too much non-interstate.
I sent you a PM Eagleback.

We take US 45 from NW Tennessee to State Line, Mississippi to Mississippi 57/63 to US 98 to Mobile. Now we are starting in NW Tennessee so different from you. US 45 is terrible from the Alabama line to Mobile. Two lane, hills, small towns and last trip impatient people headed to the shore! There was very little traffic on Mississippi 57 and 63 but four lanes. We go to Pensacola each year. There is a small RV Park we like near Meridian - Benchmark. That is our half way point.

The more I investigate this, and the more input I get, we may just stick with our regular route. If you time your run around Nashville it really isn't that bad anyway. Thanks for info.
